I have a 150 2001 johnson ocean pro on a 18 ft boat. The problem I have is attempting to accelerate gradually. The cable feels smooth for the first 3-4 inches of throttle acceleration then sticks a bit on what seems to be on the prime spot of the carberators, unless you have the hands of a surgeon your head is snapping back with the g- force.I have small children and a concern for my transom.Im wondering is there a way to make the throttle accelerate more gradually or have less tensiion while throttling up?

Re: tension adjustment on controls

check the cables for a kink or flat spot or other damage.
