Funny? No. Pathetic? Yes!

Some athletes should be banned, no matter their talent. For the good of the Game. There are Athletes, then there are Sportsmen. TO will never be accused of being the latter. I remember when Latrell Sprewell spat in the face of an official. Is that loser still playing basketball?

edit: I just Googled him. He's selling car tires. Maybe TO should sell hubcaps. ;)

IMHO, he's a jerk and should be suspended for the year and fined, so it hurts, not a chump change fine.

He does it for the attention it gets him. He should be ignored.

He's a jerk no doubt, but he is not the first we have encountered, and no doubt won't be the last.

Other than Gaylord Perry, Romanowski is probably the most famous "spitter". We all survived him, and I suspect we'll survive TO.

Apologies! Hubcaps has racial overtones. My Bad! Change that to shock absorbers. Still complements tires. Regardless, that way those two can get together and spit on eachother til they dehydrate to piles of dust and blow away.

Anybody wonder what Hall said to him? Taunting is a punishable offense.

One of my pet peeves is that violence in return for unpardonable provocation is always the "offense". Deliberate provocation is unpardonable.

I do not pardon TO. What he did was not pardonable. I think he was enraged beyond control by whatever was said and I think the provocation requires consideration and investigation.

JB, it is a time tested technique to get into the "head" of the opponent in order to throw him off his game. I have no idea, of course, who started what or why, but to think any of them are going to ack like choir boys is a bit of a stretch.

Give him a penalty if the officials catch it--maybe even a small fine if the cameras catch him--but other than that it's just part of the psychology of the game.

Now a situation like Robbie Alomar spitting at an umpire--now that is unpardonable and should be a serious suspension and fine- but the TO affair is just much ado about nothing, IMO

JB in Owens attempt to rationalize his actions he said he was being annoyed/bugged by DeAngelo's telling him "that he was going to shut him down"

IMO NO investigation required. This is football, not Barbie play time. If you can't handle the talk then don't play..................especially the way Owen's runs his own mouth, you'd think he wouldn't be so affect when others do it to him.

What if he used the "N" word? I guess anything that happens after that doesn't matter. It's just so offensive...:}

And it is not only what he did was that was disgusting, I am sure that there are children that look up to him. What message does this send? That it's ok to spit in the face of people? Is he not supposed to a "professional"? He put himself into the limelight, he should be held accountable for acting in such a way.

I used to look up to Big Ben Davidson and Fred Biletnikopf. Perhaps that is what ruined my life!

Gawsh almighty, you guys are supposed to be tough conservatives. Don't tell me you are raising a bunch of girly boys!!

No, I have common decency and common sense, unlike some.
It too liked # 25 of the Raiders, but I don't recall him spitting if the face of others. Once again, enlighten me oh "wise" one.

I dont consider myself a conservative, certainly not a tough one. I am very much in the middle.

BTW the Romanowski thing isnt the same as this......that was a racial thing.

The spitting was horrible, the fact that he tried to rationalize it is worse. Its no wonder that this country is full of ignorant a-holes who couldn't care less about respecting their fellow man.

Re: Terrell Owens

Who said what he did was "okay"? He didn't, he apologized for it.

No poster here has said it was okay, yet discussion of why he might have done it get treated like apologies for him.

It was a stupid loss of control and it is Hall who should get the apology, not the media.

Yet, like any TROLL, Hall is not blameless for the consequences of his troll.

By not wanting him to face a consequence for his actions, you are saying it is ok.

I have seen so many times here in DC, the Politicians, Hollywood and teachers should be held to a higher standard.
I'll bet more Americans know who T.O. is than know who Nancy Pelosi or Trent Lott are. And that is scary in itself.

So don't preach that he should get a pass for this, he should not.

JB where did he apologize? Hall not blameless?? I think its pretty stand up that he didnt retaliate during the game.

I think you would need to put your allegiance to the cowboys aside to see this clearly, as I think it has fogged your sense of reason......reason that i know you have.

On his postgame television appearance, Owens said the incident was precipitated because Hall "kept bugging me and getting in my face." He also claimed he apologized to Hall following the game.

Hall was adamant on Sunday that Owens offered no apology. And he noted that the incident occurred on just the sixth play of the game.

"I mean, how much could I have gotten under his skin in just six plays?" Hall said. "Were we talking to each other? Yeah, that's part of my game, and everybody knows that. But after a couple plays, I slapped him on the butt, and just said something like, 'I'm going to be on you all night. This is how it's going to be.' And that was it

That is from ESPN

And I find it funny when people do the same things with politicians and their every move........to each his own.

Re: Terrell Owens

Politicians are holding themselves up as leaders and role models, and wield great power and authority over the populous, and therefore must be scrutinized, exposed if they do something out of line, and held accountable.

Pop culture figures are just that, made popular because people pay attention to them. Some deserve it, others don't deserve the time of day.

Re: Terrell Owens

My issue with TO, his history of drawing negative attention toward himself. While spitting on another player is never an excusable offense, my guess, we the fans of the NFL are doing exactly as he intended. The same as he has intended with every single escapade he has ever carried out while playing as a professional. We the fans of the NFL are not talking about the games, we are talking about TO. TO's drive is to be bigger than the game. I believe he thinks he is. He gets a free pass with everything he does. Philly attempted to change this, but the Cowboys bailed TO out. For that, I certainly have a greater respect for the Philly ownership compared to the Cowboys. TO has no reason to believe he is not bigger than the NFL.

We have known about TO's character for a long time now. Why are we surprised? I hold Jerry Jones as being equally responsible. Responsible for coming to the aid and bailing TO out of a situation he alone was responsible for in Philly.

Jerry Jones should be ashamed of himself for giving this person the stage to yet again be an idiot. I am not surprised though, the NFL is about wins and losses, not turning players into alter boys. I don't wish to change this. Some players though, are not deserving of being part of the elite few that play in the NFL. I truly thought no NFL team would be willing to excuse what he did in Philly. Hmmmm, I wonder what he will do next.

I am all about second chances. At some point you have to believe it is time to cut your losses and move on. Just too much history for me to see or believe otherwise.
