Test CDI packs and Coils force 85 HP

Title pretty much explains it! How do I test to see if a coil or cdi pack is good? I'm getting no spark in every cylinder...would it likely be cdi/coils or something else?

its a 1987 85 HP

It is unlikely that all three coils or both CD boxes would malfunction.

If your engine has a separate kill switch in the control box or in the dash, check to see that the clip is inserted. If that's OK, check the blue and white wires for grounding. If they are OK, the next likely culprit would be a defective ignition switch. Disconnect the blue or white wire at the engine terminal board. If the engine now has spark, the problem is in the wires going to the switch or the switch itself.
