Re: test meters

Depening on how much you want to spend and how often you will use it. The prices vary from less than $20 bucks and go over $300 for a top of the line unit. A DVA can be made from directions posted here on Iboats, or one can be bought thru a good supply house for tools. For the partimer a cheaper module should fit the bill. A web search of volt/ohm meter manufactures will give you several manufactures as will a search on Ebay for used and new units. The newer ECM outboard motors are setup much like a auto and the diagnostics for them are very expensive and require a laptop to run them, and are best left to the manufacture certified manchinics for trouble on those motors that cannot be done with a standard volt ohm meter. Re: test meters

John what motors do you typically service?

There is a big difference between the outboards from conception until present.
