What size test tank would I need to be able to run my 1985 115 at WOT? Also, where would I find a test prop wheel for that motor?

Alternately you could do what I do. Run the motor at the ramp while the boat is still on the trailer.

You would need a large professional type test tank for that much horsepower. At least 4' x 4' baffled and power vented.

Have you ever stood next to a motor like that while running 5000-6000 rpm, with the hood off, in a test tank? It's downright scarey. Unless you are doing pro service work, I'd say avoid it.

In 1959 I had a V4-50 toss a rod while I was test running it (yes, with a correct test prop) The schrapnel poked some holes in me. The old 40hps are especially scarey with all their vibration and flywheel flexing. I knew a guy that got attcked by an exploding flywheel. You would know his name if I were to mention it. Messed his head up bad and he never was right after that. After another 20 years of doing it every day, it still scares me. OK, OK, I'll admit that they can blow on a boat under normal circumstances too, but it SEEMS safer. I just thank God that I'm still alive.
