Can you run a motor in a test tank with no prop? I just got a lower unit for my 72 65hp johnson. I got it all bolted up and want to make sure the water pump is working correctly. But I dont have the prop here. Can i run it with out the prop

DO NOT PUT IT IN GEAR AND WIND IT UP! ....with no load on the motor you will blow it up!

you can go to walmart and buy a cheap set of muffs for about $5 and save some water

my motor that year didnt like barrells or muffs it ran
hotter than if in the water check out adding a tell tale theres a thread on here or water pressure gauge

cool i know it runs great i just want to make sure the pump is working. using the muffs would put positive pressure on the pump. I want to see it draw water and circulate.
