I have had our local Force mechanic do work on my 1986 85HP Force motor...he replaced the pinion gear, forward gear and reverse gear rebuilt the bearings and water pump...first go round...then the drive saft striped at the pinion and ruined my pinion and forward gear again ( from what I could tell maybe the driveshaft nut was not torqued correct?)...he is highly recomended by the local marinas...but I have lost faith. Today he told me to run my new gears and driveshaft in...then drain and replace the lower unit gear oil...after 1.5 hours at 4k RPM...now I have a milkshake for lower unit oil. Can anyone help? I am in NC...my next move is Lake Norman marina...but not sure if they work on Force...I feel sure he forgot to put in a seal or did not use the right shim?

You could start with the o-rings at the drain and other plugs in the LU. Use new rings and tighten the plugs well.

Thanks, I thought we put new ones in...mine has a vent hole next to the fill hole (flat head screws with washers) and the drain is a hex or alen head...but I will check...that would be great if that fixed it...but I did notice the LU was leaking oil after he reasembled it...before this problem it was dry not a drop...Also after my run in yestereday the oil was foaming out of the prop? Thanks

In that case, it could be the seal(s) at the prop shaft.

I am glad to hear the driveshaft worked for you. I wonder if your propshaft is bent?
