Last time I took my boat on the water, I think my trim motor system wasn't working right. There's a reason why I'm a first mate on here and this is how you can tell...do you take off with motor trimmed all the way up or down. I was taking off with it mostly all the way up, but the force of the motor was pushing it right down.

Is there a way to test if my trim system is up to par, before loose another day on the water. When i trim it up I can push with my weight (185lbs) and slowly push it back down. is that normal?

Thanks Jason

Re: testing a trim system

Trimming can be a personal option,to the boats needs. If you have electric auto trim,Start with the motor level as to gane speed, watch for water splashing out the side, trim motor up untill most is gone and it planes well, you will here the motor increase, less drag.remeber as you tilt up you might loose sterring performance, lower just a little.Of coarse this depends on the type of boat and weight up front.

Motor should be down, vertical in the water when starting out.

Then trim it up about 10-15* after boat is on plane.

You should not be able to push the motor down as you describe. You have a problem in your pump.

info here

and here
