Testing Engine without Trim Senders?

Hey all. Another question or two here.

I decided to replace the trim senders, because one of them is bad, and was full of water and rusty. I'm going to do it the cheap way by just cutting the wires on the outside, and splicing new ones in, and sealing the connections properly, without pulling the lower, and running the whole thing, since the wiring is still fine. The new senders however, won't show up for at least another week.

Anyway, my question is, can I test run the engine this weekend while sitting on the trailer without having the senders hooked up?

I was just going to wire nut the ends while I flush the trim system with new fluid, and test run the engine. Obviously, I will be extremely careful not to run the outdrive too far up or down. I just want to bleed the lines with new fluid, and hook the lines back up.

Will the trim pump run without senders installed?

There is no need to cut and splice any wiring while waiting for the replacement parts.

The Position sender is just an indicator on the dash, it has no effect on the Trim Pump or Engine.
The Trim Limit switch prevents you from raising the engine too far while underway. It has no effect on the engine.

The Down Trim Button will operate the Trim Pump regardless of the position senders.
The Trailer Up/Tilt Button will operate the Trim Pump regardless of the position senders.

Caution: Do not raise the Trim beyond the normal Trim up limit with the engine operating. It is very hard on the U-Joints.
