I have a 1999 force 120 that I think the powerpack or the stator (sp/) is going or gone out.<br />moter keeps dying and now seems to have no fire at the plugs<br /><br />Question 1<br /> How hard is this for me to test myself<br /><br />Question 2<br /> I have a good stator and powerpack on a blown 1994 force 90hp can they be interchanged or would they be different because of 3 ver 4 cylinders and or the year. many of the parts seem to be the same

If the parts look the same you can probably interchange them. The three cylinder Force motors with Prestolite ignition have an extra output from the power pack that isn't used. Here's a good hint for 3-cylinder force owners. If you lose spark on one cylinder only due to a bad power pack you can use the extra output and avoid buying a new pack!<br /><br />To test the stator you need a special adapter for your meter (called a DVA adapter) from Mercury. Unless you own this tool you will be troubleshooting by trial and error, which is ok if you have parts on hand to use.<br /><br />Good luck.
