Testing reeds on V6 1988 135 HP

Servicing carbs,so decided to take off Reed Block till noticed missing bolt.Found half the bolt still in thread....now what.
Decided not to mess with it.Is there any tests I can run without taking block off.
J.Martin suggested the blow suck method on hoses...which end.

The check valves in the reed plate should allow fuel to flow out, but not back in. Most check them with a small syringe. Rednecks use a straw and their kisser.

A broken reed block bolt could cause enough of an air leak to really screw up your engine. I'd endeavor to take it off and do what it takes to repair the damage. Torque spec on them isn't very high, so don't guess. Use a proper torque wrench.

Reed condition determination is by visual inspection for obvious trouble and also gap measurement.

Thanks J.I'll have another look on the week end.Friend of mine has a gadget to get snapped bolts out.I'll probably need to replace gasket on block(you mentioned in a previous post).Also been reading some very good things on your Carson Reeds.How much and what type would suit my V6.

You'd use the sport reeds, 'bout 115 bucks to my door as I remember. Hand lap the reed blocks with some wet-or-dry sandpaper and a piece of window pane for a flat surface.

Not a difficult job at all, just a bit tedious.
