Re: Thanks for the help.

Hats off to Dhadley for the experience & knowledge shared with all of us here on proper set-up procedures, trouble-shooting and recommendations as to how to make a good rig, an excellent rig.
His knowledge of not only set-up, but engine elements and components has added a higher level of enjoyment for all, and the training involved is priceless-you can't gain that knowledge from any book!

Re: Thanks for the help.

I appreciate the kind words. I just hope that some of the things I am able to pass on helps someone. There were many who helped me when I didn't know which end of the boat went first.

I enjoy reading many posts and sometimes I dont respond. Sometimes because the folks answering are already headed in the direction I would have went and sometimes because I'm learning just like the person who asked the question.

This is a great forum. There are lots and lots of very knowledgeable folks who gladly give of their time to help us all. Personally I've learned a lot here. Like Kenny said, a lot of this stuff really isn't in a book.

The biggest thanks should go to the iboat providers and the moderators. Without them this would only be a great shopping place.

I really enjoy JB's "common sense" wisdom. And it's great to hear back from guys like Kenny who asked questions and followed thru by posting results. Thats when everybody learns (wins).

Thanks iboats!!

Re: Thanks for the help.

The list is pretty long, the experience, kindness, and patience is exhibited by many on this board. I would especially like to thank JB, DHadley, Paul Moir, Joe Reeves, ob, DHPMarine, R. Johnson, & Walker for helping me as well as countless others get back on the water. If a seperate thread were available, I'd definitely make it a point to post my thanks and appreciation to those who helped me solve a problem. Muchas Gracias, iboats for such a helpful site!!

Joe Reeves saved my marriage and my boat!

I had a very odd spark problem that no one could figure out. I was going to buy a new motor. Wife said fix it or sell the boat and get a smaller one that works! I couldn’t dump my 23’ Mako It is the hull I have always wanted.

Joe got me back running as soon as did everything exactly as he recommended.

Thanks Joe my wife and I are still happily married and expecting our first child in May. Thanks to you she will get to grow up on the water.

Mac

Re: Thanks for the help.

In general thanks to the replies to my questions.
I'll second the Joe Reeves thanks for helping me time my engine.
I promise to update when I get my 4 1/2 running. I haven't had time to work on it yet. I had many suggestions on what to look for.
Besides all the boating folks that share their knowledge the pros that take time to help impresses me.
I just hope I can retain some of the stuff I've learned for when I need it.
But I can always come here for a refresher if I need to.

Re: Thanks for the help.

I can't thank the good people on this forum enough. From helping me to fix my own motor when I knew absolutely nothing, to helping me to make a very enjoyable hobby out of fixing up old non runners.

The list is almost endless, but my special thanks, (in no particular order), to Paul Moir, Alcan, Rodbolt, OBJ, JB, G DANE, R Johnson, Dhadley, and all those who I can't think of right now. You've all helped me more than you know, and I really appreciate it.

Also to all the people who post their questions on here. Thanks, I learn a lot from reading them and the suggestions.

Thank you also to I Boats for keeping this forum going. Please don't ever stop it! I'd be lost without it, as would many others I'm sure.

All the best
Steve

Re: Thanks for the help.

This is a great forum. I help when I can and I'm always learning something from all the othet people who post. There are the obvious "knowledge" guys like JB, DHadley, Paul Moir, Joe Reeves, ob, DHPMarine, R. Johnson, and others, but many times I pick up things from just the common "help me" posters. Its really great when a solved problem gets posted and I can hear what solved it. Thanks Iboats.

Re: Thanks for the help.

I for one second the kudos to all the names above. I have said on a few threads how much I appreciate the time and expertise that Joe Reeves, JB, OBJ, walleyhead, Dhadley, and others have spent. I don't mean to leave out GDane and literally guys from around the world that help out. I discovered this forum about three years ago and am amazed at how large it has grown. I am just a backyarder and have given wrong advice a couple of times. Things like adjusting the carb jets and someone is always quick to point out that this particular carb has fixed jets. I do not mean this as a slam I am glad that someone does point it out. I am not a professional wrench and do not have all the manuals that these guys have much less the time and experience that they have and share. I would just like to see the posters return to their original post and tell what actually did fix their trouble. I know that when I get one right and the poster puts his thanks on that thread that it makes me feel good. It's like wetting your pants wearing a dark suit. You get this nice warm feeling inside and nobody knows. Thanks again to all of you.

Re: Thanks for the help.

I found this forum and have never waivered. The information is way beyond the manuals. Thanks to Dhadley, JB, Joe Reeves, OBJ, and everyone else for the responses to my questions and sometimes stupid ones. My rebuild of my 140 looper last month was a great success, 30 hours and running great, could not have been so without all the responses on this forum. To all the above mentioned and the many more I have missed, thank you all. I would not recommend any other site to any friends, not knowing all of you are there! Thanks to everyone out there!

Thanks to ALL...you know who you are. Still a newby here myself, but the stuff ya learn here is priceless. In fact, the boaters around our marina actually think now that I know what I'm talking about, as I pass on all infomation, and hype IBoats to them all. Thanks again.

Re: Thanks for the help.

Been reading this forum since I bought my boat July 2004 and learn something new each day. Without this forum I would feel insecure about a lot of things...now I know I can find any topic that crosses my mind while on the water. Its like having a lot of friends you'll never see but are always there. Good common sense, humor, patience, and the will to be helpfull..regardless. Your are a great bunch!! Thanks.
Frank

Re: Thanks for the help.

This forum has a wealth of info. I've been turning my own wrenches since my first bicycle but these 2 stroke boat motors are different animals. Many thanks to you guys who have the patience to address all the little problems that that pop up on this board. I for one have learned a great deal by just sitting back and reading through old threads. Hopefully I will be able to contribute a little myself in the future.

Thanks again !
