thank you on the help on that 75 evinrude, the carbs were dirty and so was the spout on the gas tank got it fixed...just got one more question? when it takes off it takes a little while to get to max Rpms sort of like and automatic car. would that be it slipping if so we just put a new prop on the motor and it was to my understanding that the clutch is built in the prop..let me know what you think. Also water does not pour out like it should it just mists..Sounds like the water pump? right..Is the motor in danger because of this or is it ok to run it like this....
Thanks 1BassFisherman

Re: Thanks Hooty

When is the last time the water pump was serviced? If you don't know I would go ahead and take care of it. I don't know about your motor but my 85hp johnson just "mists" out the exhaust ports also. It doesn't have a telltale. Feel the heads after warming it up a bit, you should be able to hold your hands on them if it is cooling properly. If the water pump is bad the motor is in danger big time. DON'T RUN IT!!

Rich

Re: Thanks Hooty

I just posted a question about 'pee' temperature. I also cant really hold my hands on the head for more than 2-3 seconds. Some friends have told me that is normal "it is an engine". What do you think?
