thank you all for giving me a hand getting this beast running.
72 merc, 40 hp. the main thing was finding the throttle arm that was broken. the small plastic piece to help idle the motor.
i mounted this on my 86 14 foot bayliner after blowing up the force. i am using a adapted yamaha 703 controller for the merc.
motor free
impeller, rebuilt carb, new hoses, modified the wiring to accept the yamaha controller. i got the control with cables for 100.00 add 10 bucks for the adapters. raised the motor per the forum advice.
so here she is! i only need to find the front cover. the cover and wrap around were missing. i got the cover off ebay for 20 bucks.
thanks again!

what size boat is that? I know it was free but that motor looks a bit small for that boat lol.

the boat is a 14 foot bayliner, the motor is a 40. the original motor was a force / chrysler 50hp. with the previous 50 i got 31-32 mph (per gps) with 12 gallons of fuel, me, fishing tackle, and the bow mounted trolling motor.
i am curious to see how fast the boat is going to run.
