Spotted off the beach Sunday. Think it's a Humpback frolicking in 30ft of water. Think he's gonna need a bigger boat to land that puppy!!! Lotsa inshore sightings this year.
No, I didn't take the pics. They are from a local fishing forum on which I participate. I was out commercial fishing this weekend. I saw too many whales to count from 15-75 miles SE of Long Island Sunday-Monday. The pics are from the beach between Shinnecock inlet and Montauk (SE part of the Island). Pretty rare for such a large whale in so shallow a depth. One half mile from the beach is less than 30 ft. dp. in that area. More atlantic dolphin this year by far than in twenty years of fishing this area. I saw a pod of dolphin in the East River in upper Manhattan last month!! Never know what you're going to find in the depths of the last frontier on earth!!
Eighth grade English, I had to do a book report on Moby ****. Well, I based my thesis on tackle and how Ahab should have given up on the harpoon and used tackle to let the whale drag the boat around til ole Moby wore out.
Teacher said I missed the point of the book.
