so sad, and uncalled for. no one should die trying to enjoy the outdoors.....just a lil education is needed i guess.

that was my very first thought. a few seconds with the blower running could have made all the difference.

I'm sticking with outboards. I know that with an I/O my teenagers or I would forget the blower sometime.

I still can't believe that there isn't some gas fume sensing alarm or something that could help with this. Forgetting the blower should not be a capital offense.

It's not just forgetting the blower. You also need to be mechanically inclined to keep your fuel system in good shape. No leaks, no boom.
I recommend those that aren't too bright and lack mechanical skills to stick with outboard engines :p:p:p

Very sad indeed :(

Also, I agree with Skargo, there is more to it than just running the blower. The entire fuel system needs regular maintenance just like every other system on a boat, car, airplane, motorcycle, etc.

Be safe out there everyone!

I agree, I check everything just about every week and work on her if needed, Regular inspections are definitly a must, fuel lines, belts, hoses, connections etc..But I know I am not saying anything new to you guys;) I definitly make sure the blower and bilge pump is working before I leave that morning too.
