Couldn't wait any longer, put my Regal 2860 in the Potomac today, spending the night with my son, not much time left with him he is off to college in August.

Life is good.

I was out today also. Today was actually my 4th time out this season. We get a bit of an early start in AZ. Water temps are still a little cool for water sports, but the season has begun here to. Enjoy!

We started our season the last weekend of February and have been out two weekends so far. We just got our pontoon in November so couldn't wait any longer to take her out on the lake. We're in south Texas, so not as cold as elsewhere, but still pretty nippy. Kids thought they'd go swimming but quickly changed their minds. Really looking forward to the summer months!

I guess I won't complain, I live in Northern most Indiana and got out for the first time yesterday.
This winter was the longest I can remember, actually set a record for snow fall.
It was 47 when we launched and 34(night fishing) when we trailered the boat with a 10-15 mph wind, probly not the greatest trip but we got out , would have been better if we had actually caught something but just bobbing on the boat again was nice.
I have a camper top and a heater on my boat or I wouldn't have even thought about going.

We still have 12 inches of Ice on the Lakes here in Northern Michigan. :( Boat comes out of Hibernation the 19 th of April. We probably will have snow and Ice as there is still two feet of snow and four ft where it has been plowed back. :( I do envy you guys that have already been out on the water. The temp was 10 dg here yesterday morning. Planning to Splash the 20 th of May if the ice and snow all melt.:D

We put in at Leesylvania State Park just above Triangle, VA. We bought an annual pass but they also have a Life Time Pass.

Another sure sign of spring...the bill for winter storage. :( Won't hit the water up here till mid May, tho. Heck -- it won't be water for weeks yet. How I envy you southerners!

No ice here in SW Ohio, and all the snow is gone except for a few piles in parking lots. However, a 45 degree wind was hawkish yesterday. That translates into 10-15 degress cooler out on the water at good old Caesars Creek Lake.

Here is the good news! I saw several red-winged blackbirds on the posts while driving on Rt 35. That is a sure sign that weather will be warming up soon.

I have also seen several boats being towed in the last couple of weeks. That probably means oil changes. People are getting ready. I plan on getting out on the water over spring break, April 14. Wind or no wind!

I lived in Tall Timbers, MD so know the Potomac waters. Enjoy your time with your son. I moved to Maine where all the family is and now my boat sits on the trailer, all up on blocks off the ground, and surrounded with two feet of white stuff. It'll be June or maybe July before I get my boat in the water. We had another 7.5 inches of snow this weekend.

My son and I went out last weekend. We had temps at about 75, but today is 40 and raining, (March in southern Va). We had a great day on Kerr Lake, lots of boats out fishing. We didn't have any luck but my son really loves the water (he is 6 years old). Can't wait until it stays warm here.
Has anyone ever been to the Lake Festival in Clarksville Va.? It starts
July 17th - 19th, the streets are closed in the small town of Clarksville and are lined with crafts and pretty much anything you want to eat, live bands, the fireworks an Saturday night are awesome. The boats gather (about 300 or more) to watch from the lake.

In SW Michigan it's still about 6 weeks to first launch for me.

In the early 1980's we lived in Mishawaka IN -- and it was *sleet* on Memorial Day (1983 or 1984 -- can't remember which).

I would be out getting the boat ready for fishing season if the wind would stop blowing 30+ knots but, it has been fantastic for slope gliding.

Re: The 2008 Boating Season Has Begun

Our new boat arrived from the factory to the dealer on 3/21/08. We closed the deal to take advantage of certain promotions on 3/28/08, but we won't be taking delivery until the last week of April.

For one thing, there's still a bunch on ice on our lakes, and for another, we're in a heavy snow warning until tomorrow morning.

A year ago it was in the lower 80s...

You got to love Spring time in Washington DC. The cherry bloosoms are in full bloom, the shad are in the rivers and the stripers are here in droves.

We fished the Chesapeake on Thursday and caught 9 stripers ranging from 36" - 42" lg. in a little over 2 hours. Then hit the stream for the opening day of Trout season and caught a limit for dinner.

Lifes good again. :)
