Re: The 2009 Bayliner 175 review

I have this very same boat except it is a 2008 model. The only difference is I chose the lounge seat option on the driver's side because I like to be able to sit on top of the seat so that I have a better view of the surroundings while driving. I actually just got back from the lake with mine about 3 hours ago. I paid $14609 out the door for my 2008 back in June. With me and another passenger, 9 fishing reels, a full tank of gas, 8 life jackets, a 18 pound anchor, battery jump box, 2 huge tackle boxes and a huge cooler on a some chop into the wind we got the boat to 49 on the speedo. This is only the 5 th time I have taken it out and am still getting used to it. With 5 people in the boat I have gotten it to 47 on the speedo on some chop. This boat is basic but it is rock solid. It jumps on plane and will pull skiers and tubes all day long. It has the same exact hull as a Searay and I think it handles pretty well in rougher water for only 17.5 feet long. I have had it out when I storm blew in that had 50 mph winds and we went through some large waves but I never felt unsafe in it. On july 4 th we ran it all day long with 8 people in the boat and were still hitting low 40's in very rough chop. If you are on the fence about whether to buy this boat, you will not regret it. Bayliner also has great resale. My previous bayliner was a 1988 model and I sold it for $3400 back in 2007.

Hey I have a basic question. Where do you put the anchor? I mean the 175 doesn't have an anchor point forward of the boat?

Re: The 2009 Bayliner 175 review

I purchased a 2009 Bayliner 175 a week ago as my first boat. So far, I have loved playing on the lake with my new boat and it is perfect for a begginer like myself. Without a doubt, I would suggest this boat to anyone who is looking to get out on the water at a reasonable price.

I like it! I would like to add the swivel seat and put the hinges on my engine cover of my '06. I think they might have changed the engine hatch since the hatch locks on my '06 are causing small holes on the side of the seat where it contacts. Looks like Bayliner is listening and making this boat better with every revision.

man i dont see how this boat does 50 mph across the water. not saying anyone is lying here but i have an 05 175 and can not even get close to that. I even thought something was wrong and took it to our dealership and had timing checked out. calm waters, no riders and 19 inch prop, wide open at 4800 rpm. best that can be had is 38. I guess i need to upgrade if the 09 preform that much better with the same set-up. impressive.........

Re: The 2009 Bayliner 175 review

I am doing some research on the Bayliner 175. I am looking at purchasing a 2008 model for $8500, one owner, and has been on the water maybe 5 times.

Is that a good deal?

I love the review on this boat, great writeup! It seems like owners are very pleased with it's performance and reliability. I hope this all works out, I would love to be on the lake in a 175!
