I am considering purchasing this boat as my first new family boat. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the best price? Even though the MSRP is less than $13,000 the dealers I have been to have it for much more including freight charges, dealer service charges, etc. Also, the ones I have looked at have the bimini and possibly some other add-ons. The best price I have had offered so far is $15,969 out the door -- this includes the bimini, stereo package, coast guard kit, all dealer charges, state tax, county tax, and title and registration. Does that sound fair? Or, is that still quite a bit over the basic MSRP?

Sounds about right to me. When I purchased, I was able to get one of the $9995 MSRP'd models before the price went up (mines a 2005). I got the Bimini preinstalled (no stereo) and after freight-dealer prep-DMV-taxes it went out the door at $13,500.

So, Brunswick can build an entire boat for about the same price they are asking for a 200HP Optimax outboard. Kind of makes you wonder?????.

And making margin on those costs is the name of the game . . . without margin there is no warranty, no support, no jobs, no motors, no boats . . .

You want the people who make stuff you buy to be profitable.

I have my grandfarthers bayliner that was sold to my dad and then to me. I love bayliners even though they have cought a pretty bad rep. But I will be looking to buy new next season and this one looks like the one for me. I will probley hold out as long as I can and try to find the best deal. But for the money I think I can't go wrong. Great write up and review.

I have been doing a lot of reading and comparing myself, mostly between 3 boats, Bayliner 175, Glastron 175 and Tahoe Q4. From reading and talking to people, the Tahoe has a rep for being a lesser quality boat than the other two. When I purchase it will be the Bayliner 175 as a first new boat. Hope that helps.

Another boat worth considering in this class (i looked at 2 of the 3 above) and I was very impressed with the Stingray 185. Price wise, it's in the same class and is built on the Volvo Penta as well.
