The 6" rule..... my manual isn't explaining this.

I may have to replace my lower shift cable. Was wondering what exactly the 6" rule is on adjustment? My manual isn't saying "6"" rule in those words, but may very well be telling me the same thing.

its cutting the cable so the center of the barrell is 6 inches to the center of they eyelet.
all the new cables are cut the correct length so all you should have to do is double check it.

some of the older drives (pre alpha) are actually like 5 7/8ths or something like that.

its the measurement for the shift cable for forwaqrd gear.have someone turn the prop c.cw. while u push in onthe shift cable.then adjust the brass barrell so there is 6 inches from the center of the barrell to the center of the hole in the tip of the plastic piece.thats your initial adjustment.hth
