We turned your ant-starcraft thread into a thread about BUYING starcrafts!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA WE WILL ASSIMILATE YOU. WE ARE THE BORG!!!!!

LOL...we'll see. :D I wonder if they'll trade the boat for a used weed eater? I do like the orange and the exterior looks to be in pretty good shape.

Actuall, I'm wondering what type of boat my grandpa had. He had a Starcraft, probably around 17'-18' fiberglass closed bow with an I/O. I couldn't tell you the year except, I think, probably around '68-'72. I'll try and find a picture for you guys to I.D.

Red I would say Grandpa's boat was an american by the description and EZ is right :D I had 3 Glass boats when I saw his Jupiter and decided I had to have one :D. Oddly enough the boat you posted with the trailer may also be an american so it would be like having Grandpa's boat :D.

LOL...EZ I'm known for turning anyone's thread into a thread about buying a starcraft. I'm pretty sure after I buy my 15' Holiday people will appreciate it if I pipe down about used tin cans that are for sale cheap:)...for while anyway.

Bigredinohio you would be a solid member of the starcraft armada...and that's coming from a Michigander who still harbors resentment over the battle for the toledo strip:eek::D

Just kidding you can keep toledo as long as we are still allowed to fish for walleye and smallies in lake erie:D

Aluminum boats ARE worth more at the scrap yard.....

As for me, I have a Boston Whaler, which is mostly foam. As is beer. I rest my case. (Rolling Rock, thank-you very much)

Mush is on target, When Glass boaters can't sell and have to scrap, they pay. But us Alum' owners need to say goodbye, we just remove the wood and bring to a metal reclaimer and walk away with cash !!

I wonder what the ratio of Alum to Glass Starcrafts made was ?

If I was a bettin man, which I am not..

I'd put 500 bux (the hard way) on

70% tin-30% glass UP TO the mid to late 80's

Then from that point I would reverse the ratio glass to tin.

Just a swag..I have no data to base this on, but I am correct until proven otherwise! lol;)

About what I would have guessed. Seems many of those old tinnies are still being used while most the glass ones have gone to the landfill.

Re: The Anti-Starcraft Club

To be honest if I would have been an iboat reader before buying my boat I would have been looking for a tin can myself. Growing up in Louisiana we always used various aluminum flats to go out fishing. So I was searching for one when I came across my crestliner. Figured it would be more family like then a flat. And here I sit thinking about my next round of grinding lol!

But how well does aluminum hold up to speed? Some people like to go over 30 on gps
eusa_doh.gif
and can't recall any recent off-shore racing boats that are aluminum.

Hey hushcreek, I had an Arima (Whaler cousin) I sold it after getting my tin can. I like the tin much, much better.

Jeff.
