Re: The arrogance...

your original post was not just about patting yourself on the back... which is fine. you also found it necessary to criticize others. i think that is what upset people. no one is upset that YOU are doing these things... just that you expect everyone to...

Re: The arrogance...

I use to bicycle up to 8000 miles a year ;) BUT after the second hit and run you find being 100% green a bit on the risky side

And with my current 30 mile round trip i can tell you the food required to make this trip cost more than the gas (at 4.50 a gallon X 16 MPG )

I can say that i only used a car on a single person trip 5 times in 18 months and after the hits and two Long Island winters it really got to be a DRAG

I will not even get into the 2+ hours extra of time the green ride takes

Re: The arrogance...

Here is from the Merriam Webster dictionary:

Main Entry: ar?ro?gance
Pronunciation: \ˈer-ə-gən(t)s, ˈa-rə-\
Function: noun
Date: 14th century
: an attitude of superiority manifested in an overbearing manner or in presumptuous claims or assumptions

BRG25's original post describes himself perfectly!

My wife is sooo stupid, oops I mean arrogant . . . Man, thank god for this thread. Here I thought she was pretty cool that she used our tow vehicle to commute her 1.7 miles to the Little League field and from there she often picks up kids from the high school around the corner, and then sometimes she uses it to pick up stock for the Little League snack bar, but that's only three times a week. How flippin' retarded she is, oops I mean arrogant.

I'm also purchasing a pellet stove for my house, even though I have the financial means to pay more for natural gas. God forbid we sacrifice a little comfort and work just a teeeeeny bit more. Guess that makes me a tree hugger....

No, if you were a tree hugger you'd skip the emissions-producing pellet stove and get a heat pump. Why pay and pollute to generate heat when you can just move it from one place to another?

And I also drive an suv. It's our only vehicle, it's paid for, and it covers all our needs. It tows our boat, takes us camping and hunting, gets groceries, etc.... I can't afford to get two vehicles, insure and maintain them just to save $2 ber trip to the grocery store. I'm in a small town so my situation may be different from you city-dwellers, but the same principals apply. Use what works for you and stop worrying about the 'other guy'.
