The best (well sort of) tool on my boat...... One you may not think of

These rubber gear ties you see on my grab bar. I bought a couple to hold a few things down. Next thing I know i have them wrapped around various poles. I use them to hold a knife a couple pliers and other various things while out on the water. They have become incredibly handy.

first and foremost...a beer opener! Of course I bought some Reef sandals with built-in openers...so I go prepared!

They just wrap and hold. If you look on the right, I have a pretty hefty buck knife. I use my longer ties for heavier items. They hold really stiff.

I was never one who thought I needed to spend on brand names. I will say, I went for some reefs (only after Amazon had my size for $20) and I'll never go back. I prefer cans on my boat though..... Too many clumsy friends.

I have a holders mounted for about everything, knives, pliers, gaff, drinks, phone, rags, trays for odds and ends, etc, so I'm trying to picture what I'd tuck in them, not that it's a bad idea, I'm just not sure how I'd use them.

for the dnr to observe on a safety inspection?
to each his/her own.
i like to stash stuff away out of sight, out of mind. if i could go boating with my boat looking like it does in the driveway (empty) i'd do it.
granted, i don't have a cc. so no set up like the op. just an old speed boat w/ under gunnel storage and ski locker storage and under closed bow storage.
the most inaccessible safety item i have is my fortress anchor. it'd take me a couple minutes to deploy as it and the lines are under the port back to back seat. other than that, all items can be accessed in seconds. lines, pfds, an alternative mushroom anchor w/ine, paddles, knifes, flares first aid kit, safety items etc. things like the bottle opener are accessible in 20 to 30 sec. it's a leatherman in my boat bag. which has gps, leatherman, compass, smokes etc. in it. the daily stuff.
so far, i've not found any gizmos that i think il need onboard my boat, for how i use it. day cruisin and overnighting...... any gizmos i do have, are in the boat bag. a small carry on cloth bag w/ handle.
ps, imho, having a small boat makes ya use the most of the min. space that ya got. this is along the lines of the op's idea i think. anything ya can do to maximize stashing stuff space. his idea is good imho.... i was amazed as to how much stuff i can stash on my 19' boat. when i bought it, i thought it had no storage space at all. i was wrong... i stash a gob of stuff..... short of the cooler....

The space issues is very true. My boat is limited on space. I'm like you.... Don't need to look like I'm helping someone move with a ton of junk in my boat. I use my lockers for as much storage as possible and what I keep out and need, it actually annoys me. It's like Feng shui on the water. Haha.

I have been using them for years, to hold rods tight around the rails of the console. They work great but start getting funky (sticky breakdown) after a while!

Good to know..... I actually wondered about that. I alternate between swampy Florida lakes and saltwater.

A sharp knife. As for other stuff I want my rig clean. Nothing other than what it came out of the showroom with. I think it cheapens the boat. My buddies pull golf cart looks like a thing that everything the Shopping Network sold for golfers.

I brought about 8 of them on my last dive trip. One of my buddies has a new boat. Hes outfitted holders for spear guns snares etc and he did not think we would need them. When my trip was over all 8 of them were wrapped around things on both of the boats we dove from. really handy. They were on sale at the sportsmans show two for one which is 4 for the price of two I think. Simple but effective tool for sure.
