The rain let up for a few hours so my son in law and myself went and picked up the boat from his dad's shed on the farm. Very nice of him to let us store it inside for the winter. Now the fun starts , if that is what it is called. It looks like a scow now but when it is done it will be a thing of beauty. I will keep the pic happening as it progresses. I never realized it would take so much paint. They only sell it by the litre, $60 bucks a litre. I need 10 litres. what can I use as a seam sealir on the joints on the outside of the cabin? I will have to figure out how to make my picture files smaller to get site to accept them, or what ever this photo bucket thing is. lol

Looks like that rig has tons of potential, looking forward to see what you do with it.

Awesome!:)

Dude, you need us to smuggle some Rustoleum across the border for ya? Would come to about $6 per liter. Course, you have the smuggle fee of $10,000 US on top of that (I need a new stocking cap and night vision goggles).

:D

This should be a great project. That boat really is the mothership.

http://www.photobucket.com It really is the easiest way to do picture. Set up an (free) account, upload your pictures, and link to them from here. If you click "Customize your upload options" when uploading, you can set it to automatically size your pictures to 640x480 which is what looks the best on the forum. It will remember that setting so from then on your pictures will be automatically sized. Easy peasy.

Welcome to the madness Dave! There are plenty of threads here of restorations. Once I read through a few of them most of my questions were answered. This is a great place to be, lots of knowlegable people who are willing to help.

$60 per liter for rusto...Can that be correct? Sounds more like automotive paint prices.

Thanks for the greetings. The paint I am using is Interlux brightside and interlux pre-kote, from the local starcraft dealer. One problem with it being a big boat is it requires lots of paint ten litres. The final price the guy gave me on Friday when I ordered it is $45.00/ litre. The first day got a lot done to the old girl

I'm not sure where you are in ON, but you could order it online and have it shipped Stateside, and pick it up. I don't think CBSA charges that much duty, and I know we do not care what you take out of the US. Here in Port Huron, MI there are several companies you can ship packages too and they only charge you $5 each. Just a thought

Thanks for the info 1973. The purchase has already been made, and I don't want to urinate the starcraft dealer off as I still need to make a few more purchases.

Re: the chieftain is home.

I am putting marine grade non-skid flooring down. This will be one piece outside the cabin , what are your thoughts as to weather I should paint the plywood before the flooring goes down? I have decided to get the fuel tanks coated as they look a little crusty on the inside. It sat for several years with only 3 or 4 gallons of gas in the one tank and nothing in the other. I guess replace the lines as well.
