I got some 5200 for my boat to put some stuff on that is below the water line (depth finder, drain plug). Every one raves about 5200.

I have some questions.

Its still cold up here. How does 5200 cure when its cold?

Why 5200 vs multi-caulk?

And if I'm installing something right into the fiberglass (like a drain plug), why wouldn't I gust use some epoxy and glass it in instead of caulking it in?

A full week to dry. What if it gets damp during the cure time? ( A week with out rain is tough up here (my boat won't fit inside and it is tarped)

Re: The Great 5200

Ill tell you why I like it.I installed new rub rail about two years ago.I used 5200 on it.It is still flexable, it has not yellowed or stained in any way.It still looks like it did The day I installed it.Caulk will stain yellow and become hard.once it turns hard it will leak. That stuff is the best stuff I have ever used. Its worth the $20.00 a twelve once tube I paid for it.It starts to set pretty fast and repells water almost instantly but keep it from freezing. You will love it and it has great workability.

You can get the fast cure 5200 if you can't keep it dry for a week. I have never tried letting it cure out in the weather but in my open air (covered) shop it cures fine.

5200 is a permanent attachment, so you better like what you have, and like where you are putting it.
