Re: The Hijack Zone - Zombies Welcome

I think this is a recipe called "Instant Diabetic Coma":D
I sent the pix and recipe off to my daughter (in college to become a pastry chef) who said it seems like German chocolate cake, but in bar form. I have to agree... tastes very much like that!

My daughter's gonna mess with the recipe some, just for fun. :D

Hijack!!!

Bought a new toy today, a 1984 CRUISERS BARNEGAT 22' cuddy cabin with a Mercuiser 260 IO for $100.00 Hehehe. the engine runs good but the stern drive is shot.
I have already priced rebuilt Aplha 1st gen drives here on iBoats and the price is real good. Upper and lower ar going for like $1400.00 (can't put a smiley face out of image limitations now frown lol)

Now for the Delemma
No Trailer going with the boat, tried to drag my trailer out from under my boat tonight but there is a problem. The boat is not sitting right on the trailer, its a roller job and the boat no bunks (frown) it is more stern than port on it Oops.
When I blocked up the back then cranked up the handle the trailer is twisting real bad and I'M on level ground
Anyone have any thoughts??? I have to pick her up saturday and need to do some work on the trailer, so that only gives me tomorrow to do things

OMG Bill you haven't even posted up pictures of your other boat project yet!!! Don't you feel like your being unfaithful to her? :)

BTW that ammo I believe is factory reloads, so make sure your gun is not picky :)

OUCH Am I In TROUBLE

Wifey just wants me to strip the new boat for PARTS!!
I am trying to be very subtle to tell her that Our boat, which was her dads is going to cost me about 2500-3000 to finish where this one looks to be about $1500.
The new one is in much better shape

All I am hearing now is "I KNEW THIS WAS GONNA HAPPEN" Rut Ro,

Wow you are sunk 30 miles offshore with NO PFD!!!

"Honey,
I know how much your fathers boat means to you, trust me it means as much to me as well, think how I feel about this as well..I really REALLY wanted to honor you AND your father by restoring HIS boat..But as things are, the best thing we can do is to use the best of HIM (his boat) and much like your father and mother did..Combine that love to make something special, like they did to bring you into this world.
The memories and feelings you have of your father's boat will be just as precious and never displaced, they will live on in your heart and this boat as we make new memories for ourselves as well"

awww..worth a shot

Re: The Hijack Zone - Zombies Welcome

I'm trying Vegas but it gets real tough some times, I was at the shop yesterday getting more stuff out, looking around can get real depressing remembering how things once were

Yeah I hear ya, I had to strip my office  / studio space down this past end of summer, defaulted on my 2007 ford f150 supercrew , jacked over the credit card companies....Im in the sh** with ya bud.... lowering the overhead is the best way to float.......:D

ps theres not much dough in boat refurbing flipping so dont get any nutty ideas!

PS maybe a 3rd boat is in order :p, must have decent trailer and good outdrive that matches $100 boat. Cut up junker/donor and toss when stripped out.........

Nice score Bill. My trailer is way to small for 22 feet or else you would be more than welcome to borrow it. Worse case senario is you could always run the boat down to the ramp and reload it on the trailer evenly, then attempt to pull the trailer out. Let me know if you need a hand on saturday?

Re: The Hijack Zone - Zombies Welcome

Hi Thrill - Ive posted pics of her, its my transom turned complete thread Guess its been so long since I've worked on her and posted on my restore thread
Here she is

IMG00042.jpg

Hey Kev- I'm still gonna finish her dads boat, its just going to take a lot more time & money than I have in the budget right now. I still have to do some more glass work, then paint both the hull and the deck, new rub rails, railings, want to install a Windlass on her and so on.
I figured I could run this one while I restore her dads. She told me tonight she is not stepping foot on the deck of the new one :(

Hey Vegas- Yep I'm in the same proverbial boat, these economic times really stink.
The guy at the ship yard won't lend me the trailer she's on, its not the trailer for the boat. Its about 10' to big for the boat, and not really road worthy the boat had came in off the river the PO drove her there on the river.
I tried tonight to get mine off the trailer and set her on blocks but she's sitting crooked on the trailer, when I go to pull it out from under the trailer is twisting. I was working alone, and it was getting dark so I gave up for the night.

Hey Vert- I appreciate your offer, I was even tempted to float her for a day but I haven't finished the glassing below deck yet, no paint or bottom paint etc. If I had the legs for my gantry I would just hoist it, I have to get her off no matter what cause I have to work on the trailer also. I might just build 2 gantry's tomorrow (well guess that would be today seeing its 2:54am  )and chain fall her off. Right about now I wish I wasn't moving out of my shop I used to rig right off the steel beams :(

Hey Thrill - actually the tarp is a little to small for my taste. I need to get a 30x20 thats only a 20x10 leaving the bow a little exposed.

Thanks Kev, and thanks again for translating my shorthand lol. I just got back from the trailer shop with new wheel bearings and lights for the trailer. Going back outside now to do the repairs.
I also need to replace some of the rollers but I'm holding off on that for now because I was looking to see if I can convert it to a bunk roller setup instead .

Hijack

Tomorrow morning I go up to Kingston and pick up the new Girl.
In preparation for the 150 mi round trip I did some work on the trailer, just finished tonight, new bearings, lights with wiring, and tires :D. Can't wait to get her home!!!

I'm hoping to get back early enough for some heavy inspecting. I know the outdrive housing and bellow is bad, although the P.O drove it to the marina under its own power.

I am real tempted change the oil, check the plugs wires etc, hook up a 1 1/4" h2o straight to the Hx (heat exchanger lol) and see if I can fire up her 350 :D :D hehehe I feel like Tim the Tool Man, same boat, More Power More Power! Lol

HIJACK!

Went over to Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management area on New Years Eve with my girlfriend to show her around. Drove around and marked spots on my GPS unit for a couple hours. She spotted a couple of turkeys when we were waaaaay back in the bush on Fools Stand road. The birds were just a few yards off the road when she spotted them, but by the time I got stopped and the camera out, they'd started fading back into the scrub. Couldn't get a picture. I could see them, but each time I tried to line up a photo shot, they stepped behind trees. Neat to see them though.

The GF had a good time and enjoyed being around nature again. She's basically a city girl, but I had her afield with me for about an hour and she liked that just fine. She already watches hunting shows with me, except for the impact shots. She's fired a couple rounds from my smaller stuff in the backyard too. She was my "official photographer" for this trip, but I bet in 2010 that she'll be hunting with me! :D
