My wife comes out to help me move my boat over so I can fit another one beside it to work on. Shes out there waving her arms this way and that way. Telling me to pull forward and back, more over there and then back over there. Finally we get it were she wants it and then says good thing we have the whole flipping Pacific ocean to hit "as shes holding her arms wide apart". Good thing no one was watching.

Should of just did myself. Would of been done in half of the time.

Have told my wife several times, if you can't see me in the mirror, I can't see you giving me directions. She struggles with that.

Either it's a woman thing or your wife and mine must be related. I spend as much time looking for her as I do backing the rig when she is helping.

I often remind her IYCSMITMICSY but never really complain. I have friends whose wives either won't go fishing with them at all or go but won't do any of the work involved. My wife both goes and helps. Even helps clean the fish. That's hard to beat.

PJ, your not the only one.

I will call my buddy up to help back something up into place before I would ask the wife,
"war averted for another day" :D

When it's time to check the lights mine stands back there and nods her head yes or no. Of course I can't see her.

Thanks for the laugh!!!!

Here is what I learned after countless arguments with my wife about backing the boat in. Oh I thought I would teach her how to back the boat up and i would direct........wouldn't recommend that either.

Anyway. The spot I put our boat is tight. In fact people are amazed I can get it in there and do it by myself.

I went to Menards and bought small cement landscaping blocks and I use them as guides. Line up the tires on the trailer with the inside of the blocks and put them in various places where the trailer needs to turn. After a hadfull of times I can get it in there with no effort, guidance (lack there of) and it saves an argument.

yup I can relate to this.

My wife read your posts and is still laughing. Nothing like a males perspective on the subject.

Mine stands where I can see her, and holds her hands apart, with each forefinger "upward", and as she moves her hands "together" indicates to me the rough distance from the tow-ball to the hitch.

Sounds a very sensible "move", except she doesn't move her hands together, indicating to me there is still a metre of two to go - the BM, she claps her hands together quickly, after i hit the hitch, then tells me I wasn't watching her hands.

Another thing i love about her mentality - she has absolutely NO ability to read a map upside down - so when she is navigating, best we take a cut-lunch and a compass, because we are going to get into an argument, after we get lost.

Cheers

Man, I guess that I am lucky. My wife is good at directing me when backing/aligning up the trailer ball/hitch. Like I've said before, just get a set of them hunting walkie talkies. They are great !!!!!! We also use them when backing the boat in the water/loading up !!!!!

(My wife even knows what a "true 6 inches is". ;). When backing up !!!! )

Just read this thread to the wife . . . we can't stop laughing. I once stuck the skeg on my I/O through a shed door at the end of a driveway. Not my shed or driveway  She was directing me and actually screaming to keep coming because I slowed down so much knowing I was getting too close. Of course she was mad I wasn't trusting her. I hit the thing and she yells "stop" and walks off with a little shrug. Nothing else was said.

They have come up with GPS to parallel park, and GPS to pilot your boat. Now they need to make one to back up our trailers

We tried that one time, it was so bad my neighbor came over and helped he then gave me some great advice. If you want to stay married never do that agian. I will always follow those great words of advice. We where camping one time and my friends (husband/wife) tried to hook up there trailer she stormed of crying and he was mad. I passed on the great advice and they are both much happier.
