The internet has no actual information about common boats? 2003 Tempest 165. Google ONLY lists for sale ads.

Hi everyone
My niece just bought a 2003 Tempest runabout, looks to be around 16-17' with a 75 hp 2-stroke merc. I've TRIED and TRIED googling and only FS ads come-up. One ad listed "Tempest 165" so I assume that's what my niece bought.

I have to drive out and teach her the basics, docking, safe operation etc... so before going, I'd LIKE to know some things about this boat. With any old car or old motorcycle I've ever bought, it's always easy to find specs, reviews, articles from the past, discussions etc...

All I'm finding is classified ads and I'm losing hope. Where do people who know look for info on boats?

Looks like a nice little boat. It's one-owner, never left in the water, always in a boathouse and it looks to have never seen much sun at all. Apparently, it's fully serviced. If it had the impeller on the oil injection pump replaced, I'll assume the water pump impeller is also current, lower unit oil etc....

Also, are there pdf service manuals out there for that 2003 75 hp merc? If so, great! But if this forum is like one I've seen (sport bikes), requesting such info was taboo so either way, sorry / thanks!

to forum staff: this is a double login. I posted a thread last month under another username, about a potential boat for my niece and got lots of helpful responses. But I forgot my login it so I tried 'forgot password' and my entered my email address. It was supposed to send an email to reset but I did it twice and no email from this forum. So I created another login with a different email address. I swear I'm not a troll!

What other user name? They can be merged.

Can go over the merge details

PDF copies of manuals aren't permitted to be posted, requested or shared, copyright infringement.

Most hardcopy engine manuals are available on ebay or from Merc

Is it titled as a Tempest or is that the model?
In the US? No registration sticker visible and none on larger cruiser berthed next to hers.

If you can find the motor serial number (under cowling) we can figure out which manual you need

Most all small boats are defined by the motor. If you know the motor then you can figure out the wiring and system setup

I can't remember the username so I PMed you my email address - thanks!

Yep, same copyright respecting stuff I've seen on that other place. Sorry.

She told me it's a 2003 Tempest. That's all the info we have + I have the pics.

We're in Canada. I'm in Quebec, she's in Ontario. I found that weird too, since I thought the OPP patrolling waterways in Ontario would be WAY more strict than here in Quebec, where they definitely are not (strict).

The boat is at the seller's until we can pick it up the weekend of the 22nd so I'm trying to learn from the limited intel I have on-hand.

About a service manual:
1) I only have that one pic of the motor so I'm just guessing that it's a 2003, like the boat. That, plus....
2) .... I'm six hours away so she'll just end-up getting it wrenched by someone local. That's why I don't want to make her pony-up for a shop manual, since it won't be put to use.

The HIN will start with ZTP

For a motor manual, go here. https://publications.brunswick.com/

As far as a boat manual, only about 12 manufacturers (out of 200,000 manufacturers over the past 100 years) have an actual manual, other than the 4-page safety brochure listing the servicing dealers

I have to drive out and teach her the basics, docking, safe operation etc... so before going,
Take a boaters safety course
