Traitor not trader, duh, but I did trade a bit of cash for it

It's a purchase that's been in the works for a month and a half, a certain Merc collector out of Mississauga is dumping some of his motors, since I can't afford a kg7h (yet) I figured the KH has enough of the same pedigree to own with the uniqueness of being the first shift/last of the green tank motors.

So I went to Toronto Saturday and picked it up today.

New coils/Condensors/Waterpump and has 110 PSI in both cylinders. Numbers match and it has the lead shot still. The motor has been repainted so the tank will need a once over. I bought the cowl from a gent in the states and got it as a Christmas present from the wife. That's why the colours don't match, but still, it's a nice motor. Block wasn't even drilled for the tailtale.

Well, I guess I'm a traitor too:redface: - picked up a '61 Starcraft with a 45hp Merc 400 on it last fall. Been working on that motor much of the winter getting it ready for spring. They sure are foreign to work on if you're used to Johnnyrudes. I've got a back-up plan though, if it gives me too many problems. Just purchased a '64 Lark 6 which I can always slap on the Starcraft. That Merc 400 sure looks nice on the boat though.

Ya totally different everything and the special tool requirements are insane, that's why I generally stay away. I didn't buy it for anything else but collectability. As for the lark they are good motors, like you know I got a big twin 40 same year running last year, hard on gas but reliable and easy to fix.

I've never heard that expression, too funny. I've got a 15 'Rude as well, i'm anxious to see if the Merc will beat the 15.

The 'Rude I'm no expert at, but if you can get thet Merc up to maximum RPM it should be somewhere between 16+ HP.
