What's really sad OMR is that some libs hate for Bush makes Bin Laden's feelings toward him seem like best buddies.

It begs the question, "Who's side are the dems really on?"

I don't normaly read much political commentary, but I agree, this is a good read. Some good points made here.

Sooo....the reasoning being used here to create some detectable amount of support for Bush is that, since Bin Laden reserves special hatred for Bush, he deserves credit for merely being able to make his life difficult?

I'd bet OBL would REALLY hate Bush if he'd simply pursued him with a singular, driven purpose instead of dragging us into Iraq over some phantom yellowcake crap and whatnot.

Jason,
Do you think it would make any difference if we captured OBL tomorow? It's the network that's important, not the individual. Al Queda will still be around after OBL dies, if he hasn't already. But strength will it be at, that's the issue.

Of course, this is just my opinion, but I think it's a valid one.

I absolutely agree that if he were caught now the effect would be negligible. What I suspect is that, if we had pursued him and his network without barging into Iraq guns blazing over sketchy intel, then today's climate might be a little better. I'm not opposed to being over there, just the manner in which we arrived.

I'm not so sure the WMD issue was the main reason we went anyway, regardless of the info. (I don't think they manufactured evidence, but either Sadam sent them away or sold them (he certainly had plenty of time and forewarning) or they never existed and he was bluffing.) More than likely Iraq turned up as the best strategic spot to place a base for further actions against Syria and or Iran. The WMD thing just made it easier to say go.
Again, just my not so informed oppinion!

I don't care how we got over in Iraq. It absolutely had to be done for many reasons. The longer we waited, the worse things would be. Saddam was a mad man wanting to make Hitler look democratic.

Torturing people for his own pleasure makes him the worst kind of person. No one wanted to get thier hands dirty and a tirant was getting away with anything he wanted.

I applaude Bush for doing it under any pretence.

Exactly!
Besides. We wanted to fight terrorists on their home field, not in the USA.
