A few weeks ago we adopted a second dog and named him Brooklyn

The Humane Society warned us.... Not good with other dogs.... not good with children...... grabby and nips..... relentless cat chaser and we still took a chance.

Brooklyn is doing great! Loves the other dog, no grabby at all, never nips.... but does chase the cat whenever the chance comes about. The cat taunts the dog and it is actually play time for them. Now the part where he should not be with children.... well my grandson loves him and they get along great.

Amazing what a food home can do for a dog!

Great picture! good looking dogs too..:)
Gotta love those looks they give..LOL!
I have a new one we are fostering, she is a black lab puppy and just full of energy. My two Boxers love her.My girl Boxer nipped her once but now they play and sleep together. My oldest male Boxer acts like the dad and keeps a close eye on the new puppy,he even brings it his treats. Gotta love them..:D
I'm glad the people were wrong and your new dog gets along well.
Thats great Bob.

Thats awesome, especially when they say all those negative things which in turn make him less desired from the pound. Im glad you and your grandson proved them wrong...
Ive been thinking about adopting a 2nd dog,to help keep my lab company when I am not home....

I applaud you for getting a dog from the humane society rather then paying 100's for one.

He's beautiful!! We got our first lab at the pound. He was the best . . .

Since this is a dog thread I'll throw out a little Beagle update. First non-Lab for us. Daisy is now around 8 months old. She is still an absolute terrorist, but we love her to pieces. Sleeps on our bed every night, and camping this last weekend she was the hit of the dog party. I had no idea what mountain goats Beagles are. She climbed what most people would call a cliff and then turned around and ran down it, straight into the river and kept on going . . . It was awesome!!

I have gotten 2 dogs from the Humane Society and was told the same thing about not getting along with other dogs. The 2 are best friends, and when they go for walks no problems when getting around other dogs.

Hey I am originally from Brooklyn. Lived on E 32nd ST across from Marine Park a few blocks from Kings Plaza/Flatbush Ave! :D

I reminded my wife of that after she had named the dog!

Born on Decator Street, moved to Elmhurst as a baby, then Long Island at seven yrs old. Hope you enjoy many good years with your new pal.

Glad too that Brooklyn is doing good.
To hijack your thread a moment, Have you seen the Dog Whisperer on TV? That guy works miracles with ANY troubled dog

Until he leaves and the original owner is calling the shots again . What that guy does isn't anything special, but he does have a great approach.

The second step is for him to do owner training.
