Re: The Old Holiday

Huron Angler,
Thank you. I felt it was going every bit that fast, maybe with a gps I can confirm or deny that some day.
Sorry it's been a while for me to reply, I have been very busy both at work and at home.

Re: The Old Holiday

Rick,
it was a good day all right. I finally had the old gal up to speed and I felt great about it. I was able to idle for a bit and that was great too.
I do have some pics finally, but not too many of it in the water as my battery died. Go figure...
be careful,
John

Okay,
here are some pics of the motor decals going on. I got one side on very well, but the other ... well there is some air under it by the edge. I think I can get a small syringe and put some glue in there or something then inject it under the surface. That should do it.

Here's one side done. Not too bad for an amateur

The decalswere done before the first excursion to the water so they've been on for a while now.

Here she is in the parking lot getting ready for another try in the water.

it wasn't too bad getting her in there by myself, but I I'm not sure I'd want to do it in front of a large audience!

...here she is in the water waiting for the trip to begin...

I came back from parking the truck and thought this is as good a time as any to get a shot of her. I wish it were a little bit closer, but maybe when my sweetheart gets here again, I can get some better shots... of the boat that is.
This is a shot of the speedo while I was cruising along. I was taking my time and feeling all the bumps and vibrations out. I didn't want anything to go wrong so I took it easy for a bit.

Then I decided what the heck. I put the throttle down and tried to get a picture. I'm sure I could have squeezed a couple more mph out of her, but I didn't want to do anything stupid trying to get a better picture.

Well there it is. I don't think I'll be in it again for at least a week or two, but I will have more pictures when that happens for sure.

I do have to say, thanks for all the compliments and for the encouragement while I was doing all of this. You guys have all been terrific and I truly appreciate all of your comments. I look forward to meeting you all out on the water one day where we can get these old boats together and create a bit of a time warp.

Be carfeul,
John
