Spent a beautiful day on our 1987 Starcraft Islander today after two years of working on it and more money than I want to think about being thrown at it.

The previous owners said it only needed a carb rebuild and it was good to go. After ripping up the floor to remove soaked foam, replacing the rotten aluminum fuel tank and a list of other things, we finally got a chance to spend some time on her. She was great today, no complains! Too bad, the day has to end like this..

What can you do? I'm tired of this.. Sweet boat but I've had it with throwing money at this thing. We haven't spent 5 hours on this boat since we bought it two years ago.

Guess I just needed to tell someone and vent a bit. Thanks for reading..

Sorry about the trouble you had but from the looks of it that could have been a whole lot worse.

On a positive side, lets see some more pics of the inside of the boat. It looks like a new boat from the outside.

Happy Memorial Day! Yeah, there is definitely a certain amount of pain that goes along with the pleasure of boat ownership. I felt quite a bit of that pain and started my own "misery venting" thread yesterday:

Your boat looks great and it sounds like you had fun on the water. That's great and hopefully, after you get the trailer fixed, it'll be at least 99% pleasure from here on out :) .

Yes, more pictures, please! I bet it never looked that good new!

They say that "a boat is a hole in the water in which you throw a lot of money". My boss also says that "the happiest and saddest day of his life was when he bought and sold his boat".

We pick up pour first boat Thursday! :D

yep, but that last picture makes up for the one before it. From someone who grew up snowmobiling on lat 60's, early 70's snowmobiles - I got used to working on them more than I rode.

If there is any consolation, each time you fix something (the right way), it should be the last time dealing with it for a while. Pull that trailer apart, reinforce it, weld it back up, a little paint and it will be better than new.

Enjoy it when it's running tip top, and don't sweat the the rest!

Nice job on the boat, to bad about the trailer though.
As was said, pull apart the hitch area, check to see if the rest of the reach is rusted out, or it was just because the reach was fatigued.
If the tubing is still good, beef it up alittle and you should be good to go.
