Many people think wikipedia is an encyclopedia published by an authoritative source, but it's not. Take what you read there with a grain of salt. At its best It's an informal source of information; at worst it can be misleading or downright wrong. Don't give it more weight than you would, say, an editorial opinion.

Did the Jews get so upset when Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran said the Jews need to be wiped out? Didn't see this kind of temper tantrum from Israel did you?

This is a CNN link so the lefties won't blame me for using Fox News.

We are talking about what the Pope said THIS WEEK. His quote was from the 14th century.
Why not go back to the crusades if you want to attack Catholics? How about the Spanish inquisitions? Get real! If you can't see the facts of TODAY, I can't help you.

I'm glad that the Pope is speaking out. If we can just get the American Muslims or any Muslims to speak out against terrorism, we might be able to feel more comfortable with Islam. So far no Muslim group is trying to dispell their bad image. I can only deduce that they support the terrorism.
All of the major religions need to take a position on this.

I hope his "offensive" remarks lead to more understanding and dialoge, WHICH WAS THE POINT OF HIS SPEACH.

It is utterly amizing how one little bit can be turned around by the media.

typical rigt wing blah blah blah.
just put anoter nickname in theidiot dont matter colum.
if ya wish to disscuss historical fact at least get the decade right.

only problem I have seen with Erikims fact is its all based on FOX news and hanity and colmes not much from any govt websites like the IG reports or the pentagon reports to congress.

the nice thing about semi retirement is the time I have to actually negotiate the convoluted govt websites. the info is there it just takes a bit to find it.
when ya find it copy it, sometimes soon after its published the website goes offline.

Rodbolt, people have been saying offensive things for many many years.

You can judge those that are offended by seeing their reaction.

If one party is offended at being called violent and then their protest is violent, I find that both ironic and forthcoming.

It is as stupid as the extreme religious types that bomb abortion clinics.

Authorities are investigating the motives of a Molotov cocktail attack on two churches in the West Bank city of Nablus, following a day of Palestinian protests against the pope's remarks. No one was hurt.

And in Indonesia, up to 1,000 Muslims rallied in protest at the comments made earlier in the week by the pope, who was citing an obscure Medieval text that characterizes some of the teachings of Islam's founder as "evil and inhuman," video of the scene showed.

Outside the Palestinian Embassy in Jakarta, police looked on as protesters stood behind the gates waving flags while organizer Heri Budianto shouted, "God is great." (Watch other Muslims burn the pope in effigy -- 1:41)

"Of course as we know the meaning of jihad can only be understood by Muslims," Budianto told the crowd. "Only Muslims can understand what jihad is. It is impossible that jihad can be linked with violence, we Muslims have no violent character."

we Muslims have no violent character."... yea, right.... wanna buy a bridge?

Re: The Popes point

What Muslims objected to was the implication that they use violence to spread their religion.

I'd of objected if he said that about Methodists.

Crunch, you may quote me on this:
We Christians have no violent nature.

What about you, do you have a violent nature?

Tex, In the present day, not 700-1000 years ago, do the Methodists, Baptist, Catholics, ect. have a violent nature? Do they go on JIHAD?, Commit terrorist acts, killing indiscriminately?

Define violent nature. (your definition of course)

Bingo, you got my point. Acts of violence are committed in the name of Christianity. But don't paint all Christians with the same brush.
