<p>There are few, three passenger watercraft that can do just that. And they're all made by Sea-Doo.
<p>Late last fall iboats.com and other media were treated to an exhibit of PWC performance only dreamt of by the competitors of Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) Sea-Doo division. You don't turn down an invitation from the top PWC manufacturer and the preeminent four stroke PWC engine manufacturer that suggests you'll see something totally new for the PWC arena with a promise you will be impressed. We were and we feel you will be.
<p>Sea-Doo introduced its 1630 ACE (Advanced Combustion Efficiency) engine in the RXT-X300 PWC.

<p>300 horsepower? Yes! And in an extremely compact, light package. Here she is complete and as the cutaway they showed us last fall.
<p>The 1,630cc engine is supercharged with an external intercooler. Starting is instant and its iTC (Intelligent Throttle Control) system helps guide its use for any rider's experience level. It prefers 91 octane, (premium lead free) fuel to truly deliver its performance to the stainless steel impeller inside the iBR (Intelligent Brake & Reverse) propulsion system.

<p>All that power will deliver race course performance for the three passengers.
<p>The boat was given what they call the S³ (as in S-cubed) hull that is "Stepped, Stable & Strong" along with adjustable rear sponsons to further meet the riders skills and expectations. The jet can be trimmed to match the power, speed and wave conditions. At wide open throttle it was easy to control at 72mph. It floated along on top of the light chop with an extremely comforting feeling of control in smooth, arcing turns or sharp cuts.
<p>The comfort is designed into the padded seat with access to the controls through the "AES" steering bars that can be tilted and adjusted for width.

<p>Getting up and going is the easy part. This boat is equipped with Sea-Doo's second generation "iBR" (Intelligent Brake & Reverse). It has been markedly improved over recent iterations and is still the only PWC brake recognized by the US Coast Guard for improving boating safety. At 60mph I went into full brake mode. The boat dropped the nose a little but had no indication it wanted to play "submarine" on me. The joint where the hull meets the upper fiberglass of the deck barely got wet. It was a totally secure, easy, gentle stop that only took 5 seconds. At idle, to use reverse, just touch the electronically engaged brake and the reverse is engaged. Add a little more throttle to maneuver backwards or brake as you approach the dock.
