The only cow in a small Irish town stopped producing milk. The townsfolk found that they could get a cow in Scotland at a good price. They bought the cow and they were very happy as it was a great milk producer.
They decided to buy a bull to mate with the cow to have more cows to ensure a good supply of milk. They put the bull in the pasture with the cow but every time the bull approached, the cow moved away. No matter what approach the bull tried the cow moved away and the bull was never able to do the deed.
The people were very upset and decided to call the vet who was very wise, to seek his advise.
"Whenever the bull tries to mate with the cow she moves away. If he approaches from the rear, she moves forward. If he approaches from the side she goes in the other direction. If he approaches from the front, she backs up."
The vet rubbed his chin, pondered, and asked, "Did you, by chance, buy this cow in Scotland?
The towns folk were dumfounded as they had not mentioned where the cow came from. "You are truly a wise vet. how did you know we purchased this cow in Scotland?"
The vet replied with a distant look in his eye. "My wife is from Scotland."
