Took the boat out today and when it was time to come in the motor wouldn't start. I noticed that the fuel line connector had come off the outboard and when I tried to re-connect it .... I saw a nice shiny pile of little parts in the splash well.

I limped home on the kicker, but what a pain (I know, always have a spare). I had just purchased this connector (a female 3/8" Mercury fitting by Moeller) and didn't expect it to go belly-up in a week.

Is this brand prone to problems or did I just get a lemon? Are there any recommended brands of fuel line connectors?

Recommended brand is from Mercury.

That does sound odd. I have been buying Moeller products for years because they manufacture many of the parts they sell themselves, such as fuel tanks and related hardware. Many of the products sold by other major brands are actually produced by Moeller Marine. All the products I have bought from them are quality pieces.

Could be you got a bad part, or possibly a part they don't manufacture themselves that is not as good.

Good luck with the next part.
