The summer kick off was worth a ride up to the lake!

Took a ride to watch the ramp antics this morning. What a hoot! I've never seen so many disabled boats floating aimlessly at the ramp. Owners standing around scratching their heads.

And the people trying to squeeze on last body on a boat before heading precariously off to the boat in campgrounds five miles away was a sight to see.

I was perched high up on a vantage point well out of the way with binoculars and I wasn't alone. Seems several folks showed up to watch the show. Heck, one gal was even passing out free coffee. Well actually we all kind of shared each others. Next year I promised to bring lawn chairs and breakfast sandwiches.

I guess this is the poor mans answer to a tailgate party before a 9r's game.

As was anticiapated by all off us onlookers, the wind came up at about 9:30am and the lake got pretty rough. The Sheriffs and the Coast Guard showed up and the fun was over shortly after. Hats off to those guys for using good sense this year.

We all vowed to meet again next year, same time, same place.

LOL! Oh yeah, Memorail Day = Amateur Hour on the water. That's I stay as far away from the water as I can. Although, I might have overdone it. Somehow, I ended up in New Mexico in the middle of the desert this weekend. Not my up o' tea at all, but at least I avoided the noobs on the water. Try to take some vid and post it here, or on youtube next year. They're always good for a laugh.

I call holidays on the water amateur days, and stopped going out years ago. I spent more time fixing boats for free than I did boating and having fun.

I wonder if they included Memorial Day Weekend as a mandatory observation day for the boating safety course, it would help to open a few eyes. There's definitely a lot of the blind leading the blind going on.

This is why we skipped going out on the Harris Chain this weekend and we had someone drown in Lake Eustis.
