Re: The Sunday morning crazy trip...17.5

Hey, where are my curds???? I was waiting at Breezewood and you didn't slow down!!!:p

Boy did the locals give me some crap about buying curds on Monday. Guess you just don't do that around there....everyone knows that Friday is the day to purchase curds!!! I heard someone in the background yell "Get a rope!". Got the curds for my wife and took off as fast as I could to get out of town!! :D

Here's my "new" classic toy. Trailer road great all the way home. I think I'll hold off a starting a restore thread until I'm ready to restore it (next winter). It's going to need the full works (stringers, floor and transom) just to make sure I'll do some core samples this Spring on her. But for now I'm going to address the water pump issue so I can test drive her.

Good looking craft. Do I see a tilt trailer? Looking forward to seeing you push back into the water for the 1st time!

Enjoy!

Yeah, it's a Spartan Tilt Trailer. Still having a debate on what to do with the trailer. I don't like how it sits up in the front riding on it. I'd like to get it level but to do that, I'd have to build a new trailer because the way this trailer is designed, the only option would be to raise the back up and then I think it would be riding way too high on that small footprint (width) of a trailer. I'd like the leading edge of the bow to fit between the frame rails so it lowers the front (like a Bass boat trailer design) curved cross-members are the only way I'm going to get that so I'm going to start looking for an old C-channel Bass trailer that I can modify for the width of this boat.

There's not a lot to go on, but does this trailer look like it'd be a better fit? It looks too long for the boat on it, but I suspect it could be shortened by someone who know how too, and could weld, neither are me.

That might work...is this on Craigslist? Welding is no problem for me, I've built two trailers already. 1 for my 24 ft. pontoon. Does this trailer have an axle? 5 lug?

I am trying to find out info @ motor & windshield, I think the axle is wrapped. But it's over your way & I won't want trailer or the boat.

If I can work out something w/ the guy in the next couple of days, you can HAVE the trailer & boat. Possibly recycle your trailer's axle. I will only be interested in motor, controls & windshield. Its about an hour & 1/2 +/-, maybe a bit further. He's very motivated to get it gone.

What he failed to show you, is the aqua marine plaid dash panel, and the matching plaid seats. :)

Re: The Sunday morning crazy trip...17.5

After some additional research I've found that Crestliner only made this model 1 year and then discontinued it. Seems the Roscoes of the world weren't interested in a MG 15 with blue plaid interior. :D

Now if I can only find out how many they made in 1971.

Here's my "new" classic toy.

Ok, that's a particularly classic looking boat in better than average condition. I now think you're slightly less crazy than I did before :D

Fiberglassics has some info on crestliners and they have a link to these guys. http://www.retrocrestliner.com/ You might find more info there. G/L with your resto, I`m going to pickup a early 60s Whitehouse next weekend I believe. It still has the original Rude Lark 3 on the back. I`m getting excited.

What an improvement for me....from full crazy...to slightly less crazy. I feel much better now. :D

BlkY2k, That's where I found the info on the boat. I'm a new member at Retro. Good luck with your picking up your new Whitehouse.

Got to see some beautiful country side in my travels. Here's a waterfall I stopped at by the New River, I believe it's in West Virginia or close to the border of VA.

Re: The Sunday morning crazy trip...17.5

Question to Moderators here:

I'm wondering if I should start a new restore topic under that section? I won't be doing the full restore until next winter but I will be doing several things now (engine work and vinyl repairs/fixes) so I'll have some questions to ask. Do I post in those sections the questions or should I just post 1 main topic and hope some of the engine guys will see the post? Any help on this matter is appreciated, just don't want to over post in different section if I can help it. Thanks.
