The Surge is not working (for me)

I have a 4.3 OMC and it recently started to have a ?surge? at full power and sometimes at less percentages of power. I noticed tonight as I was out on a sunset cruise that when I hit my spot it seemed to surge more.

I think it is electrical but I have only installed a new depth finder but used the old splice a few weeks back when we were on the river I had zero issues and felt nothing.

The engine acts like it is missing during these episodes, no back firing just runs really rough. I can throttle it back down and slowly come back up to a certain point to where it gets bad and then come back a little.

Even during this I can get a clip of 30 mph going, so it is not that bad.

I also thought it to be a fuel filter, but felt it would not be so since it does not happen as much at lower throttle positions.

I usually put Staybil in the tank when I come back in from the water and I only run 93% octane as well.

So any ideas would be awesome and thanks as always

Also, since I blasted a huge log tonight and ripped my prop apart, what size and where is the best place to pick on up?

Maybe there is too much stabil and not enough fuel. A filter will allow fuel neded for low RPMS but can restrict flow for higher RPMs. Start with the filter.

Only run 93? we can't even get 93 in California.

I put in 4 oz to the tank..but who knows.

I'll check the filter and go from there.

Iboats.com has great prices on props. You need to check some basics for your problem like pts and plugs. You should also check the plug wires. This will eliminate the easy stuff fast.

Surge is typically a lean fuel condition. You might not be getting enough fuel to the engine at WOT.
