I have a 4.3 OMC and it recently started to have a ?surge? at full power and sometimes at less percentages of power. I noticed tonight as I was out on a sunset cruise that when I hit my spot it seemed to surge more.
I think it is electrical but I have only installed a new depth finder but used the old splice a few weeks back when we were on the river I had zero issues and felt nothing.
The engine acts like it is missing during these episodes, no back firing just runs really rough. I can throttle it back down and slowly come back up to a certain point to where it gets bad and then come back a little.
Even during this I can get a clip of 30 mph going, so it is not that bad.
I also thought it to be a fuel filter, but felt it would not be so since it does not happen as much at lower throttle positions.
I usually put Staybil in the tank when I come back in from the water and I only run 93% octane as well.
So any ideas would be awesome and thanks as always
Also, since I blasted a huge log tonight and ripped my prop apart, what size and where is the best place to pick on up?
