This boat has shown up in Connecticut all the way from its home port of the "Bikini islands"

wherever that is!

Anyway, there were some big boats with their players on them last year, till this guy showed up and now they all look like LITTLE bow riders compared to this guy!!

Its not the size of the boat it's how you use it ;)

The Bikini Islands are actually part of the Marshall Island atolls.
U.S. tested nuclear bombs there right after WW2 that have left the area uninhabitable to the local natives.
From the official Bikini Atoll website

""After the war, in December of 1945, President Harry S. Truman issued a directive to Army and Navy officials that joint testing of nuclear weapons would be necessary "to determine the effect of atomic bombs on American warships." Bikini, because of its location away from regular air and sea routes, was chosen to be the new nuclear proving ground for the United States government.""

And of course, the Bikini we all know and love to see out on the water is said to be named after the 2 piece native outfits worn by the women.
We owe much to these people.;)

Was at Port Angeles the first day of June... There was a Westport Yacht there that had to be 110 feet if it was an inch long. "Boardwalk" was the name and did it ever look like it! Had to have a 1.7million price on the boat at least.

They are pretty but I couldn't afford the insurance on that thing never mind a fuel bill or the moorage bill.

It's hurricane season down south and the insurance is cut in half if you leave the area, so lots of movement right now.
That might cover part of your 5 man crew.:D
heck i'm retired, if you need a 6th man, i'm cheap, room/board for 2-8 wks.
the wife would be dancing a jig.:D

It's also a tax shelter used by rich jerks, both commercial and private, who want to dodge the taxes and labor safety/wage requirments set by their country of origin.

Anyone familiar with Sci Fi KNOWS what happens when otherwise normal objects are subjected to massive doses of radiation from nuclear bomb tests. That boat started life as a 20' cuddy...

(wonder if there's a 50-foot tall woman aboard?)

we have a yacht reapir yard here and often get boats like that coming through; we're also on the intercoastal so downtown, looking out the window at work, I see the spring and fall migration of yachts from the North to or from Florida.

One kept a helicopter on its top.

I'm always amazed at the "tenders" the big ones carry.

Re: The top dog in my harbor just got a little competition.

Paul Allen (co-founder of Microsoft) brought his dinghy down here to New Orleans for Mardi Gras a few years ago. Had to dock it at the Riverwalk cruise ship terminal. It has a crew of 60 people, and one of the "boats" it carries inside it is over 60' long.

Octopus cost Allen over US$200 million and has Permanent crew of 60, including several former Navy Seals.

It has two helicopters, seven boats, a 10 man submarine and a remote controlled vehicle for crawling on the Ocean floor. The submarine has the capacity to sleep eight for up to two weeks underwater.

The Bikini swimsuit was designed by a Frenchman and named after the atoll because he expected it to have as big an impact as an atomic bomb.

I heard that the picture of models in the bikini appeared in the same issue of the papers as the A-bomb going off, and thus the connection was made. Who knows.
