The one thing I know for sure about dealing with women is yelling at them gets you nowhere.

And at a ramp it gives the others something laugh at you about.

The missus is really improving at backing a trailer, but as soon as I raise my voice ( so she can hear me ) she thinks something is wrong. We got a handheld VHF for the truck, so I can talk calmly to her and sloved that. Now, if she would stop worrying about how busy the ramp is, or if people are watching.

I offered the oppurtunity for the boss to learn how to drive the boat and park the trailer. The first time it was just me and her I could see her getting SOOO nervous in the passenger seat she was shaking so I tried to rile her up a little by letting her pick the boat or the truck. She said she was going to get out of the truck and walk away hahaha. I like the way my truck looks, I like the way my boat looks and I like the way my girl looks so I think I'll keep everything the way it is and do it myself. It's kind of cool having a hot boss on the dock telling me what to do anyways!

Well, my wife drove the boat right up on the trailer this past Saturday afternoon and there was a lot of boats coming in because of the rain, and it was real crouded. I made it a point not to watch and just let her do it and no problem, no yelling! I think she's got this boat loading thing figured out. Of course our boat is just a big ugly jon boat and she really can't hurt it much that can't be fixed with a can of OD green camouflage paint!

My wife has tried a few times and has done well, as long as everyone stays calm...My sisters and mother were able to launch, drive, back and retrieve, and my oldest daughter has given it a try.
There is nothing that a man can do that a woman can't when it comes to the boat ramp; it's not a question of strength, except perhaps winching. And there, while the women are actually strong enough, they are also smart enough to convince the men to do it!
I don't deal with the crowded ramps that I hear about here, but those of you who do and won't let your female crew work, or tke time to teach them, at the expense of others waiting to use the ramp, are just plain selfish.

After a few times of struggling, I gently mentioned that we should discuss what we both think is supposed to happen while launching or retrieving the boat. We work great together now and she goes through the second checks with me so we both get it right.

But as others have mentioned - well intentioned help can throw you off and allow you to forget routine things like a strap, bracket, or drain plug.
