Re: The winter blues....

i usually get the winter blues. but not so far this year.
the blues have been replaced by worry.
worry that my biz that has normally been just fine, is now starting to suffer. i don't get any telephone calls. when i do, i don't get the call as my prices are too high... they weren't to high last summer, but now they are, apparently. i think i'm seeing deflation here. i'm not sure how to deal with this either. a catch 22. if i lower my prices, and i have less biz, i still fail. not sure what i'm gonna do, but think my time is short for coming up with a answer.
as for boating. i have a bad feeling next summer i'll be lucky if i do any. at least i own my boat so at least it don't cost me anything for it to sit idle.

this economy is starting to get real scary. don't know what i'll do when i can't pay my bills as i've never had that problem before... time will tell. sure do hope things start turning around. but it don't look likely... :(

Re: The winter blues....

I plan ahead for getting my dock money ahead of time. I get 3 weeks paid vacation. Its mandatory to take one week and get paid for what is left. I only take two weeks and get paid for the one week I don't take. I use that money towards my dock rental. As of today,,,,only 96 more days til it it time to launch for the season :D I have to replace a distributor cap and shifter cable before launch, but that is minor stuff that I can deal with.

I'm curious to see how busy the lake is this year. I'm hoping the gas prices remain at the current price.

This winter....definately the blues. Went out today (minus 11 degrees centigrade) to do some fishing in the river nearby..just to get out of the house. Line froze up in the topeye, had to be pretty dang quick to make the next cast before the whole eye froze up. One lively perch though......30 cm (abt 1 foot) so my blues have dissipated for a few days :)

I was never a ?look forward? to summer kinda guy, until now. Last summer we got our first boat and now I?m having winter withdraws. It was upper 70s when I was taking down my Christmas decorations last weekend and it was killing me. I live in southern Alabama so I could technically take it out but the mechanic that fogged my engine said I should wait until March before I try and start it. First Saturday in March is designated ?boat launch day?!:D

Yup.. Got them blues just around the time I winterized my boat.

But, I enjoy some of the activities outdoors (skating, etc) but not others (shovelling, traffic to work in a snowstorm, etc)

My best friend in NC likes to remind me how much nicer it is there than here...makes it that much more enjoyable:(

Winter blues? I'm not so sure about that....

It's cold here, and I've got the winter blues. I bought a boat a few weeks ago, and it's been "chilling" in a shed since I bought it, and I won't even be able to take it out for several more months...:(

So yes, I have the winter blues.

Job searches are no fun now, good luck.

Get a snow moblie suit. You can ride all Winter in comfort.

I'm a hermit in the winter.
As I get older, cold weather bothers me more. Sold my snowmobiles and now stay inside where it's warm. I don't know how you guys up north can stand it!
The only reason I leave the house is to go to work or get food.
Less than 90 days 'til March. That's when I'll start working on the boat again.

Yup I got 'em.

My chopper and Harley are looking lonely in my parents garage too. At least the winter gives me time to fix the little things on both. Too cold to paint the fairing for the Harley though *sigh*

Would have liked to start my boat project earlier too but when the water isn't frozen on Nov 1st here, it's VERY hard to NOT go fishing! There was a glimmer of hope for a decent winter, but then the extreme cold and snow hit. It's been a good month since any extension cord didn't feel like it would snap. Even scared to start my car some days. Guess it's a hurry up and wait game.

If you have that urge again next weekend, let me know. My bike hasn't left the garage in about 4 months (too much lumber in the way) and I could use a nice chilly ride.

I believe we live pretty near each other.

Time to crank up the battery charger and clear a path through my personal home depot.
