SS Mayfloat, That dog is FAT!

By the end of the boating season last year, he had lost about 40 pounds. He has gained it back. He weighs about 165 right now. He will lose a lot of the weight when boating season gets here. He is half Lab and half Landseer Newfoundland. The newfie side of him is the what makes him so large. However, I agree he is FAT and one happy dog.

slasmith1, u are a trooper!

Us Canadians really get the blues, although the boat show yesterday relieved mine for a while.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh, the lazy days of summer.

No snow here yet but i think this is going to be a wetter than normal winter.

Nice fish euro! Man i would love a freezer full of those perch! Down here they get big enough to use as bait but it would take 50 of them to make a meal....lol!

lowkee...i'll give you a shout when it warms up enough to get the bike out.
The boats all wrapped up so at least i got the bike to tinker with...;)

No luck on the job search....:(

Lake of the woods has some monster perch. We are leaving friday for two days and two nights sleeper about 5 miles from shore. Sounds like the bite is on. We can keep 15 of those perch but the best I have done so far is 3. Catching walleye in that lake is like going pan fishing in a metro lake. We typically catch about 20 to 30 fish a day per person up there.

The only time there is too many walleye is when the warden is there. We eat the smaller ones and work to take the bigger ones home. The one in the pick was actually outside the slot so I could have kept her but putting a fish on a wall is not for me. Cant really eat a fish that big either. I was glad to see she swam away. Line broke when I brought it up and I got bit pretty good till I was able to grab the fish behind the gills. Sure hope to catch more like that this weekend. Sure beats catching these ugly things

As TD said, winter has beset us here in the Sunshine State. Even my Canadian wifey is bundled up..:D
Oh well, had some plans to head back outthis week. They are limiting us on grouper starting Feb. 15th, so trying for some for the freezer. Looks like that won't happen for at least a week. Hmmmmm...still has to be better than minnesocold..:p

Re: The winter blues....

definitely got the blues, but one good point is I've been doing tons of overtime, nothing better to do in cold, and the boat show is this weekend. Thinking about a new one, I had a blast with the old starter boat but never did get it going right. maybe new or maybe newer but I love to go to the show anyway, it makes me "feel" warm just seeing good weather activities.

Snow has been on the ground here since the week before Christmas.

I've read all my boat brouchures at least 10 times.

Looking forward to the boat show just to make things feel worst.

On the other hand, it's less then 90 days until I uncover the boat and start smiling again.

Hope you don't have to work outside the next few days. My dad does, and he isn't too thrilled. He is borrowing my hunting gear......I just hope he stays warm enough and doesnt get frostbite with the windchills they are forcasting. I don't know where in WI you are but I'm sure its all the same.

0F right now
-14F tonight
0F tomorrow
-20F tomorrow night
4F on Friday
2F Friday night with 2-4" of snow.

Personally I love it, but I know many do not.

Re: The winter blues....

yep i got the blues...............blue catfish.

this is the best time of year for catching those big blue catfish out on robert s kerr reservoir ....just have to watch the wind speeds.

plenty of clothes and a good pair of gloves are essential..........windshields are a help when you are running close to 50 across the water--- too bad for my bud the one on his side is gone........i constantly hear "slow down i cant fell my face and my ears feel like they are on fire":D

im a die hard fisher.........i dont hunt so i fish all year...........although i do have to admit fishing partners are harder to find in the winter.

Got the brrrrr's here also. This is where I dislike my job. I always seem to be on a roof repairing HVAC units during extreme temps either way hot or cold. What helps me endure the long periods of time outside is those packets called Toastie Toes. They have adhesive on one side of the packet that sticks to the bottom of your socks. They last up to 6 hours. As long as my toes are warm, I'm good to go..........SS
