Here it is, March 31st and we're expecting 9" of fresh snow in Mpls. This has been a very long winter.

We're about a half-hour north of Eau Claire, WI.

It's in the process of snowing and blowing here... even though the snow will be gone in another couple of days, we really don't need another 6 inches or so.

At this rate, the ice should go out of the lakes, about the time it's ready to re-freeze. There's a good 2 to 3 feet out here.

Everyone we talk to is so sick and tired of winter, it's not even funny.

Ya, we got about 8 inches here in southern MN. Of course the high school basketball tournaments are going on about now. We call this the tournament blizzard. We have one most years. The thing is though we have not had a real warm weather yet. By now we should have had a few above 50 days. Some years we even sneak in a above 60 or 70 day. The lack of warm weather makes the winter seem longer. We were hoping to plant some wheat by now. But, the lack of warm weather and no warm rains means that the frost is not out of the ground yet. And the frost went really deep this winter. I have a outside water hydrant with the valve 5 feet down and it's still froze.

All rain here today. There's still 18 inches on the ground. Global Warming is a hard sell in Northern Michigan. Nearly broke a record for snowfall that was set in 1938 and it was the fourth Coldest winter on record.

Boat comes out of storage the 19th of April and we probably will still have snow on the ground. Everyone is Sick & Tired of snow.

One good thing is I heat with wood and my biggest heat bill this past winter was $76 . Oak is bountiful here and makes for a good warm fire.

This was a long winter winter because it snowed early (mid-nov), was real cold during most of Jan and Feb, and then we have had a few good dumpings in late feb and March. My son will probably be starting baseball on frozen ground..

Its good though, we need the moisture..

Well, the lakes really need to the moisture, so on that side of it, I'm glad to see it last. On the other hand, I'm really starting to feel the cabin fever! I've been out to my boat a half dozen times, I rebuilt the carb on the other and refilled the lower unit and was getting ready to pull it up front and put it on muffs, but then we get a blanket of the wet and heavy stuff...ugh! I'm ready for Spring!

Same here.

Southwest Lower MI, and it's been THE longest, coldest, WETTEST Winter I have ever endured. It snows or rains at least every other day!

I did get out on the creek this weekend, (it never freezes) and ran the 3 horse on the 12' alum pram up to the lake, which is frozen, but edges are thawed a bit. Chatted with a neighbor, who was out repairing his dock. We both had cabin fever so bad!

It seems like May will never arrive.....

Re: The winter that just won't end..

Spring has screwy weather. We had snow yesterday and the temperatures have been up and down. Sometime during the night the temps went up then down again....... my driveway (dirt and gravel) was not plowed but, now appears as if a zambonie has been run across it. Wheeeeee! Going down the driveway with no control this morning!

There is a significant flooding threat in our lakes at this time of the year. There is still 12-20" of ice on most of the lakes but the spring run off beats the hell out of them.

The worst part of snow this late in the game, is what I call re-landscaping snow..... The 8" of snow you plow off the driveway, usually takes half of your driveway with it.

When it's soft like this, I just leave it, if the temps are on the rise.

Ya, I had to move some snow so the feed truck could get in my yard to bring feed for the pigs. Now I have divots all over my yard that I made by pushing snow with the tractor. I have to pick up and replace them when it's warmer.

Just had to rub it in, as the killer summer temps are coming. Oh, and it ain't the temp, it is the humidity- gimmee a break.
