Re: The Wizard

That is an Eska built motor I don't have info on the year but these motors are all very similar.Probably from the 70s.
If the motor has been a good and faithful performer and you love it;it may be worth repairing. If the motor came out of uncle neds shed after years of storage no.These have a poor reputation.I call them heart breakers.
If you have to pay someone its not worth it.
Save your money and buy a Evinrude/Johnson 3,4,5,5.5,6,7.5 or 8 from the 50s to the 80s.Put the Wizard on Craigs list get what you can.

Any chance you dropped a number from the model number? 6634A08 is a 1980, yes an Eska. Eska made tons of them under various brand names, mostly for Sears. Of course your Wizard is Western Auto.

If you are looking for a project, go ahead and see what you can do with it. I hadn't heard the heartbreaker term used before, but it is an apt word. In good condition and good repair, it will run and will push your boat. While doing it, it will vibrate, be noisy and hot and smell bad. It actually is a Techumseh lawn mower engine.

I wonder how it went?

I have an old Wizard that I'm contemplating what to do with it.
