I sure get bored with reading political editorials, no matter how well written or how much sense (or nonsense) they contain.

I would much rather read what YOU think, and why.

Thank you JB, n' you as a mod prolly feel ya have to review all the junk, (especially the Nation stuff), that any poster puts up here.

Sorry fer the eye strain, I will try ta cut bacK a bit, (me sweetie is spankin' me too).

Michael Medved is one of my favorites, allthough his writting style is not as profound as his live radio shows are. He is a very smart feller. He intentionally invites people who don't agree with him and then dismantles them on the air. GREAT SPORT. His brain is an encyclopedia.

I do think this is the Best field of Republicans since at least Ronald Reagan/George HW Bush, prolly one of the best ever. Duncan Hunter, Mike Huckabee, Rudi, Mitt, even John McCain, (who I don't care for politically but really admire as a great American Hero). Ron Paul is the only one I don't care for and he is a brillient person.

Respectfully, JR

OMR,
I'm leaning toward a Guiliani (or however you spell it)/Romney ticket, if there is one... However, do you think it's possible for some of the republican constituents to get past Guiliani's position on abortion (which I agree with---his position, by the way, not abortion) or Romney's mormonism and turn out in force to vote. How about using your outrageous reading habits and lay out some more particulars on why YOU are so proud of 'em. Myself, I don't know the details on how Rudy cleaned up NYCity, but I've heard from numerous people who have lived there that he made an incredible difference. Whoever is on the ticket---they had better have a GREAT message on how they are planning to fix some of the problems we're facing or they don't have a chance.....I know you hate to hear it but Bush has put a mountain in front of the next Repub. candidate.........If Hillary is not the nominee I see a hard road for the next Repub. ticket. (with Obama's constant blundering it's looking more likely she will be)
How 'bout it.

Rudy will never get the nomination. The republicans just aren't ready for a cross dressing adulterer. The democrats yes, but the republicans no.

The base won't come out for Guiliani. They will come out for Romney. The only people that care about his religion are the democrats. I'm still waiting to hear any republican say anything bad about his religion.

Guiliani is quite simply the most ackomplished administrater or Governemnt leader we have ever seen in modern times. He drasticly cut taxes, cut crime, turned the largest city in the US into a very different MUCH MUCH better place. The crime stats he generated in NYC effected the crime stats in the whole Country due to the size of that town. I also don't have a problem with his positions on Abortion, (don't like Governement imposin' that on anyone [sorry fellow Cornservatives] does not include partial birth abortion which is tooo far n' must be stopped), guns is potentially another matter, but the State of Washington has a strong protection fer me guns, (selfish ol' Murky). Guiliani may also be a mean guy, (don't know fer sure but prosecuters as tough as he usually are not nice guys).

Romney is sucessfull at anything he has ever done. VERY Spectacular person!! Duncan Hunter is a rock, n' a real war hero, (not at all like the Vet). Mike Huckabee is very impressive: another HOPE ARKANSAS boy that is very smooth n' charmin' HE IS FER REAL! Those are me favorites. Hard not to admire John McCain, but his tax policies, n' freedom of speech policies leave me cold. Fred Thompson also does not value our freedom of speech, so a problem fer ol' Murky. That all said: The only Republican that I would not vote for and feel forced ta vote in favor of a Dem is Ron Paul.

I hope Hillary is the Dem of choice, Obama is a likable guy, (to me at least), but a hard left George Soros choice, (I fear the cornsequences of Soros). I can't stand John Edwards, n' the rest are all terrible too. Chris Dodd luvs Fidel Castro, (who wants Hillary [BTW]). Richardson, was the only Dem I could have liked, (I like him as a person), but he wants ta run from Iraq. So Hillary actually would be me choice if I were pickin' the Dem, and the least objectionable to me if she managed to win. N' I DON'T LIKE HER AT ALL OR WANT HER TO WIN!!!!!!! She is the easiest ta beat: IMHO! JR

I thought he was a very, very firm believer in Constitutional rights? A firm believer in what the founding fathers wanted for this country.Very well versed with the Constitution as well.

Why do you believe he doesn't value freedom of speech?

He is and was a FIRM Supporter of a piece of trash LEGISLATION called: "McCain Feingold", maybe ya heard of it. Most of us including the Prez, (unfortunately we all thought the Supremes would strike down this obvious restriction of POLITICAL FREE SPEECH) directly against the PLAIN language of the 20 page document called: (yes Mrs. Jones) the Cornstatution. But the Liberals, (Tyrants in black robes) on the bench did not do their job. Ya wanna go to jail Eric? Jus place an add tellin' the TRUTH about a slim ball incumbant pol within 60 days of an election. Off ta jail ya go!

It's real REAL hard fer ol' Murky to overlook that lil' darlin'. I hold it against John McCain as a prime sponcer MUCH more then Fred Thompson. That is the only thing I presently have against Sen Thompson, (as of right now). It shows terrible instincts. John McCain is a BIG NANNY GUBMINT CENTROL CORNTROL type, n' I fear Sen Thompson maybe the same. That said: THERE IS NO CHANCE I WOULD SUPPORT ANY DIM WIT DEM IN FAVOR OF EITHER OF THESE TWO GREAT MEN, if it came down to it.

BTW: the inforcement of this terrible law is one way if yer a dim wit or George Soros n' another much more onerious way if yer the Plainsman. Keywords: CENTRAL CORNTROL. Another key set of words: THE ENDS JUSTIFY THE MEANS. n' Senator McCain gave the powerfull corrupt pols THE MEANS! I expect that from dim wits (SOP), not supposidly Cornservative Republicans. Respectfully, (and I mean it Eric), JR

I have heard of it and do not agree with it, but.........

Ever think maybe Fred's thinking was inline as the President, that the Supreme Court would strike it down? If your going to hold it against Fred, then shouldn't you hold it against the President as well for signing it into law?

Nope, he, (President Bush) made it clear at the signin' ceremony where he held his nose that he was goin' with the will of the Legislature against his own better judgement, and he and MOST of the rest of us expected it would be struck down as Mitch McConnel immediately initiated a lawsuit directly to the Supremes.

President Bush is the best judge as to how to use his own political capital. Libs can and do hammer him over that. I make up me own mind fer me own reasons: Eric! Fred Thompson has had other tendencies to back more Federal power over his tenure in the Senate. The shock was when Ruth n' her pals upheld it against the plain language of the Cornstatution. That said, Why do the Loons on the Left like that kinda carp: is a much better question!!!

'Sides Eric, I have never used the "little Johnny did it" so I can excuse the actions that I don't like by MY GUY. I JUST DON'T LIKE THE FACT THAT SENATOR THOMPSON DID THAT whether the man in the moon was on board or not. I call 'em as I see 'em. Spades are spades NOT CLUBS!!! Respectfully, (and I mean it) JR

Does not sound like we dissagree to much, (you said you didn't like the McCain Feingold Act either). With the exception of Ron Paul, I would likely support ANY Republican against ANY Democrat for President and hope Hillary represents the opposition, (as she is the easiest to beat IMHO). As the article that started this thread indicated: THE REPUBLICANS HAVE A VERY VERY CLASSY FIELD OF CHOICES, as good as any that Republicans have ever had, (as least IMHO).

No one is perfect. That is the art of politics, is ya rank the imperfections as well as relative strengths to weed out the candidates, n' hopefully get one to win the whole deal. The two parties are as profoundly different as anytime in history and it is not over minor issues: MRS JONES!!!!

#1 The Dem candidates all want activist judges with an special interest issue litmus test: THAT MEANS THEY WANT TOTALLY INCOMPETENT JUDGES that will intentionally overstep the limits and design of our three branch of Gubmint system.
They all view the document that protects all of us as a "living breathing" document that needs constant intrepretion by the tyrants in black robes that are there for life, 'cause we are too stupid ta know what it says n' follow it.

#2 The Dem candidates all think they can spend your own money better then you can. Yes: Mrs. Jones the Democrats want MORE of yer tax dollars. They think they can find enough idiots to believe that they will actually "pay down the debt" with those tax dollars they plan to take from you. Oh BTW: when the tax hike they shove down yer throat kills the economy they will pass out a few dimes to the real dim wit victims from the dollars they take from ya.

#3 The Dem candidates all want to cut and run from Iraq, as the Dems forced us to do in 1975. They don't want you to know what happened to our allies the last time Chris Dodd n' the rest who all think like him stabbed us in the back.

The minor problems associated with Guiliani, (the Republican with the most baggage), McCain or Thompson, are just that: minor problems that You or I very likely could and will overlook to ackomplish the big job of having a reasonable steward of the GREATEST COUNTRY on the earth at this point in time lead our Country.

Respectfully, JR
