I have an Evinrude o/b with a model number of<br />4036EB10172. It's small, but did a good job :)I need help finding out what year? Please. Evin

4036 = 1970 two cylinder 4hp engine.<br />Displacement: 5.28CI<br />Spark plug: Champion J6J (now J6C)<br />WOT RPMS: 4500<br /><br />That's one indestructible engine you have there. It was in production in one shape or another since the early 50's.

I appreciate that you had time to answer that question and it was quite near what I anticipated. I used the motor a lot when I was a young lad going to catch fish. It never let me down :) It has been kept in my fathers carrage about 15 years, but now when my children are growing, I'd like to restore this workhorse to it's proper function again. Everything is in working order, but the fuel pump. Thanks for vital info.<br /><br />BRGDS, Evin from the other shore

Inspect the ignition coils under the flywheel. If they're cracked, they must be replaced. They'll either arc over, or they'll absorb moisture and stop working. They're not very expensive.<br /><br />Good luck!
