okay, so a good deal came along and i want to see if you guys think i would be making a mistake

i've been doing a lot of research on props trying to make a decsion on what to buy for next season. i've been on the fence between stainless and aluminum mostly because i have a 3.0 135hp motor and some have told me i won't see any advantage with stainless while others have said i will. at any rate, here's the deal, a good deal has presented itself to me where i can get this:

new mercury revolution 4 4-blade stainless 19p

here's why i'm asking if i'm making a mistake.

currently, here's where i'm at

3.0 alpha one, 17.5' boat, running within normal RPM range at WOT with load with a 21p aluminum black max. now is dropping from a 21 3-blade aluminum to a 19p 4-blade ss going to totally screw things up for me? while condidering aluminum they recommend only dropping 1 in pitch on the 4-blade side and i would be actually dropping 2.

i just want to make sure i'm not making a huge mistake. also, the diameter is like 14 5/8" where my current black max is just over 14 i think. anyway, can someone comment? unfotunately, there's no way for me to test it first.

hole-shot and plaining for watersports are my main interests

Re: theoretical prop question

Hi, unfortunatelly testing is the only way to be sure.
I personally think your WOT rpm will be about the same but your holeshot should improve.

Did you already buy this prop?

How was your set-up running before? how was your holeshot? What was your WOT RPM?

Re: theoretical prop question

The Rev4 has huge blade area and was really designed for high HP, heavy offshore type rigs.
If ya got a super deal, try it...ya can always sell it, but I don't think it will perform as well as you'd like on your rig....it takes alot of power to make that prop work right, or should I say, it takes alot of power to utilize the blade design.
