We wax it once a year. That is all that is needed for us, as it only sees the water a dozen weekends a year. Our boat is over 35 years old and the fiberglass looks new. We do the bottom as well, but don't do the spots where the bunks sit. We wash it with soap/water after each use, and wipe down the interior with Mequire's upholstery products a few times a summer. Interior is original and in great shape as well. No need to wax it more than once. Our 20' boat takes about 6 hours to wash, wax, and clean the interior/upholstery all at one time.
We use 3M Marine wax and a cheap electric variable speed buffer from HF.
